My on again/off again boyfriend of a few years and I ended things for good so I went up north to my parents house to be miserable and eat comfort food for the weekend.  On my way back to Kalamazoo I stopped at a bar in Grand Rapids to get a drink with my grandma.  That very same night the bar was doing a toys for tots charity event and 2 marines were hanging out collecting toys.  My grandma (always on the lookout for eligible bachelors) introduced me to them and I immediately hit it off with Scott.  I'm sure this is the part where I say it was love at first sight, truthfully I had no interest but he was nice, fun to talk to , and looked damn good in his blues so we spent most of the night talking and playing pool.  At the end of the night we exchanged numbers and I figured we'd never talk again. He called me the next day, and the next, and every day for a week before he finally asked me out.  Our first date was more fun than I expected but I didn't take him seriously because he wasn't my type.  I didn't do nice guys.  I was still into that bad boy/no ambition/treat you like crap/so much fun to look at sort of guy.  His previous girlfriend broke his heart so he was looking for fun, not a relationship. We went on a few more dates but refused to get serious.  I wanted a rebound, not a commitment.  He was patient and put up with it for 4 months before telling me he didn't want us to see other people.  6 months after that we said I love you and not long after we moved in together. We've been together for 2 1/2 years and survived loss, deployments, epic battles, and each other.  He asked me to marry him Easter 2010 and our wedding is in May 2011.  Scott isn't my type, he's not perfect, he was supposed to be a rebound, and he's my best friend and the best thing that's ever happened to me.
