K
Savvy October 2020

To postpone or continue as planned

Kelly, on June 19, 2020 at 3:36 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2
Date is set for Oct 25th, 2020. Venue booked and half paid for. Photographer paid for, cake, and invites paid. Save the dates sent out. Catering half paid. I have my dress (didn't pay much at all and love it. Thanks Uniquely Vintage!)

He is an RN (in charge of infectious disease no less) I am in an essential civil service (labor division) and lucky to be able to telework. We are are watching these numbers and really trying to figure out what to do.

All of our family falls into high risk. I assumed it would be ok but with things just trying to figure out how to reopen, we are not sure if we should. Our guest list was only 80 including us. So...not huge but I'm still not sure if just doing a small ceremony is better or not.
What made me unsure is state parks are attempting to reopen, some counties are talking about mandatory stay at home order again due to a spike, our stay still hasn't lifted the official order. My job (EDD in CA processing Unemployment claims) has said we are to telework for the foreseeable future.
Then there is part of me that feels like I'm not comfortable with being the center of attention like that and would rather just have 15 people there in a small spot in the redwoods and maybe doing a reception later to celebrate with everyone else.
Any thoughts?

I think it all boils down to the type of wedding you'd wanna have - if they require masks and you can't socialize and you can't dance, and you know a lot of people won't be able to or want to go -- would you be ok with that? if your answer is yes then it's ok to proceed

Hi Kelly! It's such a personal decision, but now is definitely the time to lead with your heart and do focus on the things that are most important to you and your fiancé!

If you'd rather have a smaller celebration this fall then you should definitely downsize! Your guests will understand your health and safety concerns. There are tons of other couples who are getting married now and rescheduling their reception and big party for a later date!
