I am usually very active on social media, but since getting engaged a few months ago I have been much less active. I realized today it might partially be because I am scared that people will be hurt or sad if they aren't invited to the wedding. On the other hand I have traveled a lot and have friends all over the world who will not be able to participate other than outside of social media. I'm afraid the "close friends and family" line might not work as our guest list is well over 200 due in part to large families.

I'm finally getting some fun details nailed down, like lining up our bridal party, cake tasting (which was adorably decorated by my baker friend), and setting the actual date! These are things I feel naturally inclined to share, yet I am still holding back. As a traveler, social media has been a vital tool in staying in contact with those I care about. So, while I don't share every detail of my life, I still share a lot.

How have you dealt with sharing or not on social media?

I usually stay active on social media, because I also have a lot of friends and family farther away that like to keep up with me that way and vice versa. I don't post a lot of details about the actual wedding because no one cares if we picked a florist or photos of our venue bare on the inside. I've posted engagement photos, and I've posted small updates like a picture of us outside of our venue, and a picture FMIL took at our cake tasting of our whole group. But other than that I've only posted a few countdowns like when we hit the year mark.

FMIL has a whole album on her Facebook that FH and I are tagged in of pics from our engagement party, and I have an album titled "Pre-Wedding Festivities" to consolidate pictures, like the one that said "I said yes" when I picked a dress, a pic of FH and I in Mickey and Minnie wedding ears at Disney, our anniversary celebrating our one year out mark, things like that. It's only a few photos, but I like having them in one place so post-wedding I can go back and see all of them.

    I work in entertainment/social media/television so perhaps I have a more skewed opinion since I'm very pro-digitizing.

I have been staying very quiet on social media when it comes to wedding planning. I shared when I got engaged, and the engagement photos that the photographer posted online. Other than that, I didn't share any of the extra photos online, just on our STD's and people who asked to see them.

I just do not feel inclined to share to much about it online. I share the information to the people who ask me how it is going and who want to know. I don't go out of my way to share what is happening. I learned on here that no one cares about your wedding as much as you do. So I kept that in mind and if people ask about it, I tell them most of all about it! I want to keep somethings secret.

We have not shared on social media since we feel that if people need to know then we will tell them. I think the people that do it just want attention and we just don't see the need.

I'm not sharing much, FH and I both changed our relationship status to engaged, but we haven't posted anything about wedding plans.

I don't have social media and those in my bridal party are cautious with what they share. We went shopping for bridesmaids dresses last weekend and not one person posted anything to social media. I was so happy everyone there was enjoying the moment together.

I try to post as little as possible about anything related to the wedding on social media. I only posted when we got engaged, with a photo of him proposing, and shared our engagement photos on FB. I'm a little more active on IG, but I only post countdowns with one or two engagement photos every few months. I am guilty of hashtagging our date in those countdowns, but I don't post any actual wedding details other than that. Now that I'm getting close to the date, I've recently had a couple people ask for invites via IG. Due to that, I'm going to now refrain from posting anything until the actual wedding comes.

I'm friends with a few people on FB and follow on IG who would post their full wedding website on their social media pages and it used to annoy the hell out of me. They would post the link with a reminder to RSVP, or to remind people about their registries, and it just rubbed me the wrong way. I don't like when people flash actual wedding details in your face when you're not invited.

Same. One of my best friends posts about her kids and her DoTerra business NONSTOP. Drives me crazy. I adore her kids, and I'm glad she's working on something she likes, but I don't need to read about it or see five times a day.
