To pin or not to pin... to the dress...

Jessica, on September 28, 2010 at 11:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

So it's tradition in our family to have the dollar dance. (I know some of you are against it and if you are then that's fine you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't want to hear it because it's not the purpose of this discussion. Not trying to be rude, but it's true and I know what's coming to me, but anyway...) I'm not sure if I want to do the traditional "Pin money to my dress" simply because I've paid a lot for it and don't want to ruin it. I know I can have the money pinned to my veil, but I'm doing a cathedral veil and won't be wearing it for the reception so I'm looking for another way out. Does anyone have any suggestions???

    How about a sash?

Or you could just have the Maid of Honor/Groomsmens hold a cup to collect?

My sister used a really pretty vintage purse. She just looped the strap on her arm and people put the money in it. It worked really well Smiley smile

The ones Ive seen the BM and MOH line up next to you and hold bags so whoever dances with you puts the money in there and then dance...

All the weddings I went to the MOH and Best Man collected the money for the bride and groom (MOH for Groom and Best Man for Bride) and just held onto it till the end of the dollar dance session. You can get a little basket to collect it too. Then the closing of the dollar dance is when the MOH dances with the groom and the Best Man dances with the Bride. Its is all fun. But I personally don't want dirty money pinned to my white dress! Smiley smile

I'm glad I posted this... I really would have never thought of the idea to have the MOH for the Groom and the BM for me. I really like that whole concept Marisol. Thanks!

Yup, do the purse and have them hold it for you...much better idea than pinning dirty money to your beautiful dress!

I'm doing a dollar dance as well and I am using a small little basket to collect the money into. I don't want to pin anything to my white dress especially money that has been all over the place. I have decorated a little basket that will be set up by the DJ for everyone to put money into when they dance with me and my FH.

My two uncles walked around with hats collecting the $$...as well as 'encouraging' people lol. Def. no pinning on my dress!
