Tips on diy Flower Bouquet

Mackenzie, on January 3, 2020 at 3:30 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

I am 4 months out and haven't attempted making my bouquet's yet because I am terrified of messing them up. Does anyone have tips on how to make bouquets with fake flowers. I have attached my inspiration picture...really wanting to create a wild flower look.

Use flowers of different shapes and sizes, start by using the stronger bigger flowers and grouping them together, then work around the bouquet with greenery and smaller flowers to fill it out and fill it in. Greenery is really key to the organic and natural look. You can take it apart and start over if you do fake, which makes it less stressful.

I used real flowers, but practiced the look I wanted on fake before the real ones came in.

I'm a floral designer. When I make a boquet , like your picture I start with the tallest flower first, as my center, I put each stem in my left hand and hold it still, while placing each stem that I'm adding down along side of the middle flower by sliding the stems through my thumb and pointer finger, just building as I go. It makes it a little more interesting to have different heights like your picture. To anchor the flowers together, use floral tape, it's stretchy and will cling to itself. They actually have it at dollar tree. Just wrap the upper parts of the stem that you won't be holding with tape, you can then cover it with ribbon. You can glue the end of the ribbon to the tape or pin it, them wind the ribbon around the stems. Then add a bow and streamers if you want. Hope that helps some!

Hey Mackenzie! I love the inspiration pic. You got some fantastic tips and tricks from the PPs. I would also suggest checking out YouTube for some tutorials. It may help to visually see someone put one together and follow along Smiley smile
How many do you have to create?
