Tipping Self Owned Vendors

I know there's so many reminders out there saying to tip your vendors, but I was curious if you tip self owned vendors on top of what you are already paying them? Pretty much all of my vendors are. I have my catering tip and hair/makeup artists tip set aside, but I wasn't sure for everyone else. What did you do?

Some say yes tip them, some say unnecessary. Some say tip if they go above and beyond only. Really is up to you. I probably won't tip my self-employed vendors but maybe a thank you card.

I’m confused, why wouldn’t you tip self-employed vendors? If anything they would probably appreciate a tip even more than larger companies.
