Tipping Coordinator?

Michelle, on February 5, 2020 at 4:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2
Our coordinator (day of) is also the property manager of our venue (its a big house property that does weddings). So we're staying there and have all wedding events there. According to him, he works with everybody for all things wedding. After reviewing our contract, there is actually nothing in there about him, he just appears to work for the company. Originally, last year, we were told that having him help us would be for a fee. We have asked numerous times what we should pay him and he says "Everything will work out". It's Hawaii and everybody is very laid back but we don't know what to make of this. I assume we should be tipping him but we have no idea what would be reasonable.

I would some kind of tip would be reasonable. Usually 10-15%, hope that helps. Ours cost 500 so we probably tip $50.

Hey Michelle! Once you know how much his fee is, you can tip a % of that. I do think it is a little strange that there is no mention of him or the cost associated in the contract. Personally, I would be afraid that I would be landed with a big bill. But I do appreciate things are a little more laid back in their culture as you mentioned.

Perhaps, you could speak with him and advise you're working on your budget and would like to know what the fee for his services will be as you want to factor it in?
