Timing your walk down the aisle

First Lady, on February 24, 2013 at 8:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So I'm in the process of picking out my ceremony songs and I don't think my walk is that long for the whole song. How are you timing your walk? I'm lost Smiley sad

Well luckly my walk doesn't have any words to it(thank goodness for classical music). I think you should just try it out by doing a practice walk as far as your aisle will be and see how long the song you want is. If the song is way longer maybe you can cut it short. Is it going to be live musicians?

No live musicians. It's classical music with no words as well. I wanted the bridal party to walk to one song and then myself to another. Just didn't want it to seem awkward switching up songs to fast. But good advice on practicing!

Yeah the organist when we were picking out songs made sure that the songs flowed right, I have the bp walking down to something else also. Usually when walking down the aisle it is right together, left together etc... that way you are kinda timing each step nicely. You usually don't want to race up the aisle but also don't want to take forever.

I'm editing the songs to start playing at the point where I want them, then I'll probably have the person in charge of my music fade out the sound of the first song once my bridal party is done and fade in the 2nd song for me to walk (aka tunr the volume down down and then back up). I'm sure they don't expect you to walk for an entire song.

Talk to your dj. Hell be able to cut songs or fade out where needed!

It is very common for music to change before the doors open up for the bride to walk down the aisle. Even if the walk is short my best advice is for you to take your time. This is the true moment of the wedding you have been waiting for. All eyes will be on you, specially those of your very soon to be husband. He is going cherish seeing you in your dress walk down that aisle for the rest of his life so don't rush it!!

What I always tell my brides (and the respective fathers) is take a deep breath and then take a step, take another deep breath and then take the other step. Keep a steady flow but make sure everyone gets to see how beautiful you are.

I haven't picked my girls songs yet. I thought I'd pick a few, and put it to a vote lol...I'll walk down to a George Strait song, and I'll probably do the verse i love most, and the chorus, BC we plan on also using it as the wedding party dance (well, when they tell everyone to join us on the floor).

I just used one song, but it nicely intensified throughout the song so it created a great effect. It was 5 min, but I didn't worry about the timing. I also didn't have to worry about walking too fast because I walked down the aisle with my 92 y/o grandma that raised me.

Were using instrumentals for processional songs! Everyone in the wedding party except myself and my dad are walking to one song and I'll be walking to another. I told the Dj "once entire wedding party arrives at altar fade that song out and then start playing my song, once i get done walking down the aisle, just fade my song out as well!
