So my fiance and I decided to do a very small ceremony and a larger informal cookout style celebration that weekend.
My question is how soon should I do invites? I feel like its going to be hard to budget for food if I dont have an idea of how many are going to come but I dont want to do it too early either.
We are working with a limited budget and are struggling to get the guest list below 100.

Your budget should be for how many you invite. You budget as if 100% of people will attend and if you get declines that’s some money saved. Most caterers don’t need final numbers until a few weeks before the wedding.

You should budget for your entire guest list. If you plan for 100% attendance, it will be a pleasant surprise to only have to pay for 80%. Invitations go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding and your caterer should need a final headcount 2-3 weeks before the event.

I'm assuming this is more of a casual come over and hang out thing than an formal reception. If it's super casual, 2 months-3 weeks.

I'm still feeling pretty stumped on that part to be honest.
