Timeline: Vibora dance & midnight snack question

Monica, on January 3, 2020 at 4:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3

I made a timeline about 3 months ago and Im going over it again. I had to tweak a few things and im wanting to get closer to finalizing everything.

Ceremony is 2-2:45pm

Reception is 3pm-9 or 9:30 including cocktail hour.

3pm cocktail hour + appetizers

4:15 grand entrance - first dance, 2 speeches, toast, blessing of the food

4:35/4:40 dinner time -greet guests after eating

5:30 cut the cake -

-father daughter dance - Mother son dance

6:00 money dance

Open dance

6:30 vibora del mar dance

-garter toss-bouquet toss

7:30 or 8pm “midnight” snack

9pm or 9:30 end

So first question: is 9:30 too long? Not that 30min makes much of a difference but a lot of ppl in the family would like to dance and I wanted to be able to dance all night long lol.

Should the vibora dance be later in the night? Lol should I wait until ppl are more drunk? How far into the reception does this dance usually take place? I wanted to do the dance sooner than later because I want to change into my reception outfit after the bouquet toss.

Should we cut the cake & then do father/daughter, mother/son dances or do those dances first then cut the cake? I figured serve cake, let them eat while they watch us dance and then money dance & open dance for everyone.

Lastly im providing a midnight snack of pizzas since we are having dinner a little early. Should the pizzas come at 7:30 or 8pm if dinner is served roughly around 4:30/4:45.
Am i missing anything? Let me know if anything sticks out. I wanted to get most of the reception stuff out of the way early so we have time to dance.

    Hey there, Monica Smiley smile

Personally I don’t think 9:30PM is too late. What time have things finished up at other family/friends weddings you’ve been at? Does 9/9.30 fit the norm?

Would you be ok doing the vibora dance in your reception outfit? If so, you could have this dance later in the night when people are a little merrier and willing to participate!

Many couples typically do the spotlight dances first, followed by the cake cutting. If you want to switch things around, I don’t see any issues with this. It’s your day and whatever works best for you!

I feel like your midnight snack could be served at either time. Maybe 8? At this point, guests may have drunk and danced up an appetite! The pizza can be left out until clean up, cold pizza is yum!

Thank you for responding! Lol. I am leaning more towards ending at 9pm because maybe some ppl might feel its a long day (2-9pm). But part of me says noo 9:30! I haven’t been to many weddings so Im not sure what time my family or his family would tend to leave. I know some wouldnt stay long and some that would.

I would want to do the vibora dance & immediately after do the garter toss & bouquet toss in my wedding dress. For now I will leave the time for that at 6:30 until FH or the dj tells me to do it later in the night.
And thanks I think i will go with 8pm for pizza.
