Time of day for summer ceremony in Pacific Northwest?

Jaimie, on September 8, 2019 at 10:35 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
Hello all! I am getting married next July in the Pacific Northwest and I am trying to decide what time to have my ceremony. I was originally going to have it start at 3pm. Dinner at 5pm and guests have to be out of venue at 8pm. Here is some info. I am getting married on a Sunday, venue opens at 9am closes at 8pm(time guests need to be out). It is an outdoor ceremony, covered tent reception. I don't want people to be directly in the sun during the ceremony and most of all having sun in our eyes for photos. Any advice or thoughts?

I talked to my photographer and venue coordinator about what time to have everything given x y and z. For instance, I wanted cocktail hour to be right before sunset so we can have really good light to take pics in. So we found out when sunset would be and we then worked backwards to find our ceremony start time (3pm).

I would look up what the lighting will be like. You can just google it for x date.

    Hey Jaimie!

Megan gave some really great advice about working backward when working on your timeline.

How long of a reception would you like to have? You might be able to expand on this when you write a list of everything that will need to happen during your reception, for example, cocktail hour, dinner, speeches, special dances, cake cutting, etc.

Have you booked any vendors for a specific time, like your hair or MUA? This will also help you inform when would be a start time that suits your day.

Are you working with a wedding coordinator with your venue? You should definitely discuss this with them as they may have some insight.

I'm not having a coordinator or wedding planner. I am getting my hair done from 10am to 11am. I was thinking the ceremony will be 30 min. Then photos with family and couple photos (45 min). Guests can have drinks during that time or play lawn games. Then dinner, toasts, bouquet toss, cake cutting. Then dancing.
