Thinking of doing a Thursday evening wedding . The venue is offering me an excellent deal almost half off with additional add ons. The only problem I'm having is the possibility that people wont show up. Our guest list is at 90 close family and friends. We only 1 out of state guest . Has anyone been...

If not would you go to a Thursday wedding?

I agree with @gymrat It's your wedding. Do what's best for you. The Hell with the naysayers.

I'm doing mine at 6pm on a Friday. It saved us $4K

Having a wedding at a less convenient time (we plan on Friday, but at 1pm) is actually part of my strategy to accommodate my mother's and FMIL's guest list while hopefully not getting too many of those people that I've never met or barely talk to actually come. The people I want there are either retired or have flexible jobs. I would attend a Thursday wedding if it was for someone I was really close to, but I personally think it is inconsiderate IF your crowd is a Mon-Fri, 9-5 crowd. As PPs have said it's not just saving you money, it's costing your guests potentially two work days, and chances are they will be worrying about the time and secretly resenting you for the inconvenience. (Again, if they have Mon-Fri 9-5 jobs)

I would attend a Thursday wedding. I would have to leave work a little earlier, and I might not stay as late or drink as much (unless I took the Friday off and made a long weekend out of it, which I might be inclined to do).

I'm having a Tuesday wedding!!! We picked it because of the date but then found out what a great price difference we get from everyone!! Plus we get 2 complementary nights at the hotel (Hilton on cocoa beach). I would definitely attend a wedding during the week.

@Becky, I am curious how many guests are coming to your wedding? A Tuesday wedding requires people to take 2-3 days off of work if they aren't local.

@Swin. I personally had no concerns over GymRat's wedding. I didn't even want to talk about it.

For immediate family or best friends I would do whatever to attend their wedding. I am stingy with how I use my vacation days though. I like to take vacations and that is what I use my days for. I might use a day here or there if a family member comes to visit me. Otherwise I try to save them up.

@Nikki, not sure where you live, but many people in this country have zero paid days off.

@Nikki not to me. A vacation is a destination I choose and a date I choose. And nothing is free. I end up dropping at least $200 to go to a wedding. I could take that same $200 and have a great meal and entertainment I choose (I don't care about drinking). It's not about the booze, food, or entertainment. It is about how close you are with the couple getting married. The closer we are, the more likely I am to attend despite any conditions.

I think it’s depending on the guests. That and my sister had a Saturday wedding and A LOT of guests that RSVP’d did not show.

Also? It’s a huge money saver. That, and it’s ultimately up to her.

Oh that's a tough one. Personally, I would feel obligated to take time off work or otherwise feel really rushed if I went to a mid-week wedding, even if it was at a nearby venue. I think Saturday weddings, Sunday brunch weddings, or Sunday weddings on holiday weekends when most people have Monday off (only if there are few guests traveling, because travel is usually more expensive on long weekends) are most convenient for guests, and to me worth the extra expense.

For a Thursday wedding I'd need to take 1/2 day off work on Thursday to get ready and then Friday off if I really wanted to go and enjoy myself. Chances are I would just decline my invitation unless it was a close friend getting married on a Thursday. Don't be surprised if you have a higher "no" RSVP rate than usual if you go with a Thursday.

Unless most of your guests are school teachers and you are having a summer wedding, I'd probably stick to the weekend.

FH and I went to Thursday wedding a few months back. We didn’t really mind it. I had to take the day off because the ceremony was at 1:00pm (Catholic Wedding). FH was a groomsman so he was busy all day
