Throwing your own Bachelorette Party...opinions?

FW would really like to have a Bachelorette Party but I could care less. FW and I have discussed renting a party bus and just having an awesome night hopping from strip club to strip club partying as we go. I have no issue with this except that we are already shelling out so much for the actual wedding and it doesn't seem that anyone is volunteering to assist with the cost of the party bus.

I feel like if everyone thinks we should have a Bachelorette Party then it would be on them to plan it. Am I wrong in thinking this? To me, it's the same as a Bridal Shower, you don't throw your own Bridal Shower so why would you throw your own Bachelorette? Opinions?

If you want to have a party with your wedding party, then call it something other than a bachelorette party. (Bachelorette party is given by someone other than you.) You could even say, "FW and I are going strip clubbing; anyone want to join us?", if you don't want to host it. (You don't need a party bus for this.) Otherwise, just skip it.

@Nicole - I think you may be right to some extent as we are the first to have a "traditional" wedding among our group of friends and brothers/sisters. Previous weddings they have been a part of have not included bachelorette parties or bridal showers or any of that, just "hey we're getting married in a month, church then food at the community center." No "pre-wedding" events or real planning.

@foreverafter7 - I used to work in a few bars in an area known for local Bachelorette Parties, we'll definitely get a lot of free things and comp-ed cover charges I'm sure. I want to make sure that we won't have to be responsible for the cost of everyone else.

@Lori - I'm that girl who throws myself a party....I mean I don't do invitations but I do a FB group invite and no tiara but still "that girl" Hahaha. I appreciate your opinion though, I definitely don't want people to be forced or feel like they HAVE to come and roll their eyes over it.

@Centerpiece - I absolutely agree, I know it has nothing to do with them not caring. No way do I think they don't care because they have gone above and beyond with other things, just no parties. I think the cost may be a factor because there is no one other than my FBIL who could foot the whole amount up front then collect the money. However, said FBIL is clueless when it comes to even planning what he will have for dinner much less throwing us a Bachelorette Party.

@2d Bride - I like the way you think. I still want to do a party bus simply because I think it's the easiest most convenient mode of transportation for everyone if we're hopping around.

I disagree that there is a parallel between not throwing your own bach and not throwing your own bridal shower. A BS is for gifts, so you definitely shouldn't throw your own, and even close family traditionally shouldn't. A bach is just a party, though, so no reason not to throw your own, unless you don't want to, which it sounds like you don't, so don't. Smiley sexy

If you or your FW wants one then k say throw your own! It's really not that big of a deal. You're not being gift grabby, you want to celebrate. I kind of took the reigns on my party. I made the invites, but my moh paid for them. She wasn't taking the reigns in time for a party that would be out of town for myself and my guests so I booked the hotel myself too. And the dinner reservation.
