Thoughts with Winter Weddings..

Erica, on December 21, 2016 at 9:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

What is everyone's thoughts on winter weddings? I am in love with a venue, but only availability for my year is February. I originally wanted October, but want to have my wedding there. Anybody having thoughts on having a wedding in winter, just nervous with the weather. (Atrium at the Curtis Center)

Winter weddings can be beautiful. My cousin had one not too long ago and it was probably one of the prettiest weddings I've been to. They really went with the winter theme for their decor and it was lovely. Just be prepared for the possibility of inclement weather.

We're getting married in three weeks in upstate New York. We aren't spending too much time worrying about the weather, at the end of the day it is what it is. My sister got married Memorial Day weekend and it was freezing, some places just north of us got snow.

I think a little snow fall the morning of or during pictures would just be so stunning! We're using lots of candle light to cozy things up and I've got a faux fur stole to keep warm for pictures.

Weather. In the northeast, the winter can be unpredictable and at times, it makes traveling dangerous, if not impossible. I'm going to a family wedding on January 14. The invitation actually has a line that says, "In the event of inclement weather, the wedding will take place on Sunday, January 15".

It's a risk. I was married on January 30, and it was a gray, slushy, wet mess. However, the roads were passable. A little colder and I probably would have lost my Long Island contingency.

As long as it's indoors, I wouldn't mind going to a winter wedding. If it was outdoors, that would be another story. I wouldn't want to sit outside freezing my butt off the whole time!

Oh philly? Cescaphe wedding?! I'm Tendenza!

Anyway, I hate being cold. And I hate being dressed up and cold.

But i think that venue could be made absolutely stunning for a winter wedding. It's in a city, so yes, if theres snow on the ground it could make getting there difficult, but 95 should be cleared and its valet parking so no worries there.

I say if its the venue you want, and theres absolutely no other dates available (I'm doing a Friday which is significantly cheaper) I say go for it!

I'm getting married next week so obviously I like them. You have to understand weather is a risk and you need to do everything you can to host your guests as well as possible and make their experience as enjoyable as possible

We're getting married on 1/20/18. I'm so excited. Totally my dream to have a winter wedding. I'm not dwelling on the weather at all at this point. Yes, it's something to take considerations on - but no matter what time of year weddings are, there are inclement weather risks. I think it's a great time to get people suffering from cabin fever out to celebrate something!

Winter weddings are pretty, however there is nothing more that I hate than being cold. That said, a winter wedding was out of the question.

It depends on where you are. Winter where I live means 55 degrees and MAYBE some rain. If it is indoors with a heater then you should be just fine

We are booked every weekend in January, February, and March, and I love writing ceremonies about winter.

BUT, I think it's a clear situation where you want wedding insurance. There are weather risks at any time of the year, but I think most of your guests would love to have something to look forward to in Feb!

Hey fellow Philly bride! I haven't been to a winter wedding yet but I would be excited for one and wouldn't worry about it that much. I would love to go to a February wedding! I also live very close to your venue and I can assure you that I never have problems getting around when it comes to weather unless it's a snowmageddon type deal.

Team Philly! (Well I live here, getting married in my hometown). February sucks here and is often when we get lots of snow that could affect travel plans. Could they do a Friday or Sunday not in winter? Also, have you looked at similar places to the Curtis? The crystal tea room is nice as is the 23rd at armory and the chemical heritage museum

My wedding is in 7 days, and I cannot wait to pull it all together!! We went with a silver, sky blue, and white wedding, snowflakes, trees, pine cones, I love it! I will post pictures when its all said and done!

Oh, and might I add that in the 3 weeks, we have had 25+inches of snow, its been negative 24 degrees, and expecting 17 inches of snow on Christmas day!! My wedding day should be a balmy 15 degrees!

As long as they're indoors, I see no problems with winter weddings. I've seen gorgeous pictures of winter-themed decor. I would definitely getting cancellation insurance just in case because you never know what will happen with the weather.
