Thoughts on providing dancing shoes for reception

KSera, on August 21, 2016 at 5:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Hi All - I'm getting married in the winter and was thinking about providing dancing shoes for weary feet. However, flip flops seem inappropriate for winter. I've seen Rescue Flats and Talaria but both are pricey. I'm willing to fork it out if its worth it. Any experience or alternative ideas or should I just go with flip flops anyway?

I've been to many weddings with flip flop baskets and I feel like they almost never get used. But maybe that's just me.

I'd save the money. Flip flops don't really get used and I think those rescue flats are ridiculously expensive. People know they'll be dancing, they can plan accordingly.

Most people at my wedding just went barefoot. I went to a winter wedding and she provided flip flops. I took some just because they were there.

You should save your money. I don't think they are necessary at all. Adults should know how to dress themselves for a wedding, including appropriate footwear.

I think that concept is so strange. I've seen brides here talk about flip-flop baskets, but I just don't get it.

I mean, I'm an adult. I know what shoes to wear in certain situations.

Having the same struggled with thinking I want to have a flip flop basket and want guests dancing but...it'll be mid November in New England, haha. Thanks, PPs, for convincing me not to spend the $$. I think I will still give my bridesmaids cute flip flops or those foldable flats, though, as part of their gifts so that they have no excuse not to get on the dance floor with me Smiley winking

ETA and obviously I'm giving them some personalized gifts too. But flats/flip flops and shawls will be for dancing and outdoor photos.

If anything, get some for your bridal party in their gift bags. I wouldn't do them for the wedding though. My friend did BM ones for her wedding and we all used them!

I'm different in that I did the flip flop basket with 40 pairs and came back with only 2, as women found me and said it was a wonderful idea because their heel broke/they decided to dance after all/etc. Ended up being a huge hit at ours!

Personally, I hate trying to dance in flip flops. I trip over myself more than I do in heels. Use the money elsewhere =)

Most weddings I've been to with flip flop baskets, the shoes have gone unused. I usually wear flats, or take a second pair of shoes for dancing. I expect it, so I go prepared. I feel like most adults are the same way.

I'd be worried about having the right sizes for everyone. I wear a size 10 and one of my BM is a size 5. One size does not fit all.

Personally I always wear my heels and bring a change of shoes for later on in the night. I think it's a waste of money
