Thoughts on Friday night wedding?

The venue I'm considering is offering a significant discount for a Friday instead of Saturday. Is it inconsiderate to have a Friday night wedding when most of our guests will be traveling?

I had a Friday night wedding for my first wedding. This time around I am doing a Sunday on Memorial Day weekend. Send save the dates out early so people can know ahead of time. I see it as this: those that want to be there will weather it's a Saturday or Tuesday.

Candice, are a lot of your guests taking off of work on Friday? I know your date is super important to you, but are you at all concerned that your guests won't stay until midnight on a Thursday?

In any event, you are one of the few brides I believe MUST send STDs (to everyone -- not just your OOT guests).

Centerpiece I'm the Thursday before MDW and I let VIPs know the date. My brother is going to take the kids out of school for two days and so are the parents of my little cousins who are in the wedding party. Some of my guests are retired, most live local and in this area people party on Wednesday nights - especially in the warmer months lol. My reception ends at 12:30am. I'm sending out STDs in November.

It's your wedding, your day, and it's up to everyone else to make it. My fiancé and I actually had the same thing! Friday and Saturday were open and we fell absolutely in love with the venue, and we decided for our financial bearings that we would choose Friday because it was $30 cheaper than a Saturday and off peak!

Don't worry about the day of the week. The people want to be there, are going to make the effort no matter the inconvenience. I'm having a Saturday wedding and almost everyone is out-of-town guests. We have a 60% of the guest list coming, mostly due to the cost of flying during the summer.

I think its a matter of preference. Some will inevitably be unavailable no matter what day you pick. I agree that you should check with your VIP's. For us Friday worked best for our out of towners b/c most of them are pastors so they could use Saturday as a travel day to be back in time for Sunday. It all depends on who you are inviting.

I'm doing a Friday wedding ceremony is at 6:30. Someone is always going to have something to say. You do what you have to. We initially were going to do a Sunday NIGHT wedding. Then as I thought about it I was like NOPE!
