This is why we cant have nice things. a mini-vent

Traci, on October 21, 2019 at 11:31 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 20
So someone asked about my wedding. Then proceeded to force an invitation.

"You BETTER invite me!"
"Am I invited?"

The the conversation steered to.

"Will there be an open bar?"

I said no. For personal reasons, there will be "Mock-tails" (virgin drinks)

"OHHHH I usually have fun while drinking, but i can have fun sober too"

🤦🏾‍♀️ oh for the love of all that is HOLY.

"Wait is it in 2021? Why wait so long."

"So we can save money"

"Your sending the save the date too early."

The reason I didnt invite this person was because of this ☝🏾 and i didnt invite her sister because shes SUPER picky with food. The type of picky where you end up fusterated to tears. STOP THAT NONSENSE.

This is why we cant have nice things. a mini-vent 1

Lol let it roll of your shoulder girl!! You have no idea how many girls I literally met TWO MONTHS AGO when I started my new job asked when are we getting invitations? Open bar let’s get lit - no. I don’t even know your last names!! I don’t know why in the world people assume they are entitled to a wedding invitation

I’m really sorry you had to deal with that, Traci! There is nothing wrong with venting. We all need to every now and again Smiley smile

Just ignore those comments and that individuals opinions. You don’t need that persons approval of your wedding plans. Keep on doing your thing Smiley smile

UGGH I feel you. It is so annoying! The fact that someone has to ask if they're invited should say enough to that person that NO they're not invited... When I first started my job back in February, I had quite a few co-workers ask if they were invited.... Like I just met you a week ago, do you really think you're invited?! I live in Minnesota now, but originally from Florida, so my wedding will be down in FL in January. Those co-workers who asked if they were invited kept saying "oh now I'll have an excuse to go to FL and escape the winter!!!" - Um no you won't! SO rude!

YES! Ugh. People are ridiculous. I have had so many people try to invite themselves to our wedding. We have been together since we were 15&16 so all these people we haven't even seen or talked to for 5 years just pop up "Oh I just can't wait for the wedding, its going to be so much fun!"
Yep. It is. Enjoy the facebook pictures...We got engaged almost 3 years ago, and pretty quickly picked our date (4.25.20) and every one had something to say about the length of the engagement. Sorry, you aren't the ones paying for it.Also ran into a girl at the grocery store that we went to high school with who made a point to say how much weight I've gained since then, and then had the nerve to fb message me her address so I could send her an invite.

I totally get this! I have old coworkers that I hardly ever talk to anymore asking when I'll be sending stuff. First of all, I took a promotion over six months ago in another building. Second of all, I've only seen them once since I left. And that was only because I went to their team building and everyone ignored me until I got up to leave. And now they have the nerve to ask when to expect the save the date? I think not.

People seem to think they can just show up and don’t understand how expensive it is. I had a friend reach out recently (she’s a good person, and I know she meant to no harm, but still) that I haven’t spoken to in years tell me congrats and that she hopes she’s invited to our wedding. Very awkward to tell her only those closest to us will be invited. I’m sorry :/ I hope you stick to your plan of not inviting her.

That is ridiculous. I have been waiting for these comments from co-workers, none of which will be invited. Just politely let people know you have a limited list due to budgeting. I had someone comment on “oh that far out?” when it was literally 13 months away... I said, well things book out a year in advance so it’s really not that long. Try not to talk about wedding plans at work so no one has the opportunity to make comments. If anyone asks, just say things are moving along and leave it at that.

Right!? I made a point to tell her that since high school I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and a thyroid disorder, then promptly walked away. I was so floored when she messaged me. I have deleted/blocked her on social media and am just glad that it wasn't my usual grocery store since she was the cashier!

This is ridiculous. I am sorry you have to deal with that. I wouldn't invite them also. I am have it a point to only tell those that I know support us. Everyone else, I will let them hear through the grapevine and I don't care.

Omg I feel this!!!! My FH and I have been engaged for 2 years and by the time we get married it’ll be 3. And we’ve taken our time with planning, mainly because I'm still in school and just saving up for a nice wedding. Not over the top but not super simple either. And I swear I have had so many people especially coworkers ask me about wedding stuff, same things like pushing for an invite or whatever. Or certain comments, like one coworker always says “it’s about time you've been engaged for 69 years.” Since I’m petty I’m just thinking about how they’re going to feel when they see the pics on social media and I’m not going to feel bad 😂
