This is what happens when you ask for cash from your guests...

...you end up in a Miss Manners column! Gotta admit, I never heard of this before.

That is rude as heck. I wouldn't buy anything and maybe not show up if the bride told me that. You don't do that to your guests. I'm on a fixed income so when weddings come about I find something in my budget I can get and I spend a lot of time thinking if they will actually use it before buying as my funds are very limited. I would be beyond insulted if I found out someone was doing this.

Exactly! Getting my money through fraudulent means is worse than asking for it outright - which is terrible on it's own.

What kind of company even does this? I want to know where they are registered, that the store would just give them cash instead of the actual item they requested. Then for the customer service agent to say he'll bring up this concern at the next meeting?? LIKE???

Wow, secrely panhandling and lying to your friends and family about it!

    Yeah, nope. What a fail.

Wooooow. I would say this is worse than just asking for cash, tbh. Not that asking for cash is GOOD, but this is straight up lying to your friends and family who were trying to get you something nice. That would be a slap in the face to me if a friend or family member did this to me and lied about it.

Somebody needs to put the company on blast so everyone can know what it's really for.

@FutureMrsH i wish the company had been posted by the person! At least now you can be aware if you see a weird registry like this with duplicate items in the future, that won't let you ship the gift anywhere but directly to the couple. All red flags to me now.

This is probably the worst one that I have seen! Also, why would anyone participate. So selfish.

Wow, how incredibly rude. Also pretty transparent. Who needs 3 slow cookers?

ETA: I would also be pretty embarrassed to tell a guest that. Some people have no class.

Came back because I'm so confused as to why the bride thought this was totally cool and just explained it like it's nbd? I have so many questions.

What kind of a store is this? What does the store get out of it if no one is actually buying their merchandise? Are they taking a cut of the money or something?

    Beyond rude, and beyond crazy.
