Thinking of altering my dress to sweetheart neckline... opinions please! *PICS*

countrybride*H*, on June 23, 2011 at 2:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

I realized today after looking at few ladies who have found their dress (congrats to those who have btw Smiley laugh), I took my dress out today for the first time in months. I just remembered that maybe a few or a couple of months ago I did a post about altering the neckline on my dress to a sweetheart neckline, and it hit me today I never took any pictures of what it would look like with a sweetheart neckline. So here are the pictures. Which way do you ladies think it looks better? Keep it the way it is or alter it to a sweetheart neckline? THanks ladies! And excuse the fact I have on no makeup and look horrible lol.

1st pic- Sweetheart neckline

2nd pic- how it is now

3rd pic- close up of the beading

I like the sweetheart idea a lot. I think it flatters your chest a bit more.

I can't really tell because it's your finger and not the dress. But I really like the neckline on the 3rd picture. i'd keep it. on the second it looks like cups around your boobs

I personally prefer sweetheart necklines. Mine is straight across and I am planning on altering it. It all depends on how much DB wants to charge me for it.

@ Mrs B- it looks like that because my dress is scalloped at the top, I would get rid of the scallop part so it is more smooth if that makes sense.

Mine is scalloped across the top with the normal straples neckline, but for some reason, the middle scallop kinda tucks under for some reason, as you can tell in the first picture, the other two scallops on each end you can see.

Renee B, they might charge alot. I'd go to a reliable seamstress. I know to change my zipper back to corset it will be $200. And then others have said their hem's were a lot.

I also prefer sweethearts. In the last picture it looks better

Though i normally prefer sweat hearts- i think the subtle swoop that yours has now is pretty. it looks to pointy with the sweat heart imho.

I like it with the sweetheart. If you do it just make sure its done correctly and by someone who knows what they are doing. Good luck, the dress is beautiful.

Beacuse it is scalloped, I'm not sure how the end result would be.

Yeah I am going to check with DB first because they are doing my bustle for $30, and then depending on the price i will decide wether or not to do it there. I am scared to do it somewhere else and have them ruin the dress.

I vote sweetheart. Mine is a very subtle sweetheart and I'm going to have it altered. I think it's more flattering.

It looks weird from far away but when you put the pic of it closer it didn't look bad. im not sure if you want to try to safty pin it together to see how it would look? im not sure if that is a good idea or not but i think if you do that it will help us see how it would look without your finger

I tried to figure out another way to do it without my finger, but I'm to afraid to do anything else but use my finger, there's so much beading on the top I don't want to mess any of it up by messing with it to much.

I like the sweetheart neckline but I really like the close up of the beading just the way it is. I would say leave it Smiley smile

Sweetheart neckline would look beautiful but I'm torn because your beading is so beautiful the way it is. Your dress is beautiful btw!

I like the sweetheart neckline. It just seems to finish off your dress if that makes any sense. The gown looks great on you, Chelsea!

Thanks ladies! I'm still undecided, the lady I'm using is local, and she is an amazing seamstress, she made her daughter's wedding gown by hand, and the beading on her gown is unreal!

I love your gown and all the beading and detail. I think sweetheart would look really nice on you, but if its outrageously expensive, then its fine the way it is. Either way, you still look beautiful in the dress. Smiley smile

Here is a stock photo I found of how the scallop detail is supposed to look vs. how my dress really does look.
