No..but it would be different. I would be thinking how does this correspond to the theme. How will you decorate?

For me, yes...I LOVEEE centerpieces!! Smiley smile But there are ways you can pull it off...have something edible already at the table, some sort of trivia/game, nice salt/pepper shakers and nice linens...

Just curious...what is your theme and what is your idea? Smiley smile

Nope, not weird. I'm having a simple single rose in a vase .. 2 per table as they are the 6' banquet tables. There. Done. Our venue is fairly new and gorgeous in it's simplicity. I can't believe how people on here fret about centerpieces. Maybe I'm not a very good bride to be .. but I'm realistic, no one but me is really gonna notice stuff like that anyway Smiley smile

I think it might look a little strange not to have anything there. Even if you did a few candles it would look nice.

Does your venue offer centerpieces you could use, so you don't have to worry about it?

I think it might look a little "unfinished" with no centerpieces at all. You don't have to go fancy. Maybe do like Trisha and just have a single rose in a vase?

No I think this could look good. Can you remind us again where your reception venue is and what it is?

I am not doing anything fancy...just some baskets of flowers from Costco (they call them centerpieces but they are pretty small from what I can tell) and then I will put some candles on the tables with some confetti of some sort and that is it. We are getting married in a different state and didn't want to be stuck with centerpieces afterwards. The guests can feel free to take home the flower baskets.

I am having trouble caring about centerpieces. However, I threw a surprise party for my mom last year, fairly casual, in her yard and didn't plan table decorations. However, once set up, it drove me crazy that there was nothing in the middle of the table! I drove around trying to find something last minute that I could afford. In the end I found nothing, but it still bothered me.

What about something edible in the middle of the table? Bread basket? Cake?

Centerpieces are something that is expected while in the end it's your wedding and your final decision. I am actually using my wedding favors as a major part of my centerpiece idea because my wedding budget is very small. I really agree with

Tatiana on this, the table could look incomplete and may end up bothering you.

I agree, not having anything would be a little odd. What about a few candles? It doesn't have to be extravagant to tie the room together! Smiley smile

I'm thinking try using centerpieces which are out of the norm, floating candles, branches w/lights; something that screams "wedding reception" or your reception may look like a party. what about a single flower with a pic of u & ur FH? I'm going to create our centerpieces to cut cost.

The tables might look a little "naked" without centerpieces. I agree that even a simple vase, or candles, or framed picture would work just fine though. Over-the-top and large, complicated centerpieces are not necessary.

Honest, I wish the that the last wedding I was at didn't have centerpieces, they took up space on the table and even though it was a full service meal I had to hold my drink, because there wasn't anywhere on the table to put it.

It would be weird but only because it's different, I have never been to a wedding that did not have a centerpiece of some sort on them. I think if it is cost you are worried about maybe look into the opstions that the ladies of WW have given you? Smiley smile

Are the tables round or long? If they are just long tables, maybe a runner or like, rose petals or something creating a stripe down the middle? All the glasses/plates/tableware can be placed on top of them so it won't be in the way and it will give that extra pop.

The tables might look naked specially if you're using white tables covers. Maybe add a bottle of wine in then center or/and your wedding favors.

The tables will look "undressed". You need to do something.

What about putting some bottles of wine in the middle or bottles of water? Maybe a small basket with favors or candy? It could look a little bare with nothing in the center.
