"Things to do" insert in invitation

Tiffany, on June 14, 2011 at 12:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Has anyone done a "things to do" insert to include in their wedding invitation? I think it is a nice touch that I wanted to add... thoughts?

Anyone have any examples?

I put it on my wedding website under the FAQ portion for out of town guests... Smiley smile I am inserting a business card type thing in the envelope with the invitation that has our wedding website URL on it.

I'm going to make some Other suggestions. The more inserts you have the more they weight, and the more stamps you need. Also, people usually forget the invite and directions at home, so I'm not sure if they will remember to grab the insert.

I suggest welcome cards in the hotel rooms. I think it is the ones that are staying in the hotel that would benefit from a "what to do" list. Also, if you have an early church ceremony, and a later dinner, you can put the "what to do" on the programs.

I have heard of one bride sending her guests on a small scavenger hunt. It was a destination wedding for most, but the brides home town, so she sent them out to see a few famous locations in town, and to get the best Milkshake in town (or something similar)

I did a welcome bag at the hotel with ideas of things to do. I included obvious tourist stuff (I'm in DC) as well as a 'bonus round' of things locals usually only know about, like the Exorcist Stairs or grasshopper tacos at Oyamel.

If most of the guests are from out of town i think this is a wonderful idea, but if they are all local its probably not neccesary.

I am doing a welcome bag for all of our DW guests, and then for any out of town guests at our post-wedding celebration at home. However, I already included area activity information on the website, so I'm not sure how much more I'll put in the bags.

It seems like the general theme is to keep the "things to do list" to the welcome bag... eh?
