I was at a wedding where it was a beautiful mansion, delicious food, full open bar, bridal party looked fabulous from head to toe, ceremony was like it was scripted out of a movie and then at the reception... Karaoke. The bride and groom opted out of traditional music and only had people (mostly drunk people) karaoke, ugh.

Have you ever experienced a disappointing wedding moment like that?

My cousin (my favorite cousin) had a beautiful wedding. The ceremony was in a "historic" church in the North End of Boston (but not Old North Church) and the reception was on the 50th floor of a building overlooking Boston Harbor (with 2 story windows facing out). The only bad thing was the bride was 45 minutes late (and it was hot and because the church is old there were only a few fans which didn't do much to cool off the church). It could have been worse, I attended the rehearsal (I did a reading at the ceremony) and she was an hour and a half late (I had just gotten out of the hospital - I needed a blood transfusion due to extreme anemia), I was the first person there and was alone with the priest for about 45 minutes before anyone else showed up.

    Karaoke, ugh. My sentiments exactly.

At my cousin's wedding last year, either she didn't have an accurate count of people attending the reception (she was inviting/asking who was coming a few days before on Facebook!). There were not enough chairs at the reception and the "attendant" at the venue (a Moose Lodge or similar place) wouldn't put any more out unless my uncle authorized it. Apparently this was because they were paying by the number of chairs. Meanwhile, there are guests standing waiting on my uncle (who was still at the church for pictures). They did not get the proper permits to serve alcohol, so the keg and coolers were in the parking lot and people had to go outside to get a drink. There also weren't any table decorations (candles, flowers, nothing). And while it works for some people, it was paper plates and plastic cups. This is soooo not what I want for my wedding. Her sister is getting married two months after me. It will be interesting to see the differences.

These all make me very hopeful that my wedding will be awesome.

Music, chairs, food and decor? I can do that! Smiley winking
