Sad to say, FH family still acts this way. The woman do all the indoor household chores, cooking etc, and the men only fix what needs to be fixed and occasionally do outside chores

I feel like the expectation that your wife is a maid is the one that will destroy the relationship.... not the expectation that a grown ass man will act like an adult. Ugh. In this day and age... you know, the one where both spouses need to work.... it's just insulting that there are still those of the opinion that, even though both are working full time jobs, the wife should do all household chores, cooking, cleaning, etc. This is also probably after she made less than her male colleagues for the same job, was harassed at work or during her commute, and had to work twice as hard to be hired because, as a married woman of child bearing age, many bosses were afraid that she would get pregnant and take the minimal or nonexistent maternity leave. But yes, go home after your full time job and do all the housework, to relieve HIS burdens.

I think the part that makes it extra extra irritating (as if it needed help, lol) is the "girly" penmanship on a notepad, like this is some girl sharing sage advice she's found on the topic of marriage with other ladies, and is journaling about it. Please.

Lol sorry for the rant. :p

Didn't read where the convo was at right now, but there is this girl in my brother's high school graduating class that got engaged in March and is getting married in August. She is 19 freaking years old. She's marrying a 27 year old she met a year ago. This is her facebook post from May:

"I can't wait to be a wife in only 100 short days. Something about doing laundry, cooking dinner every night, keeping the house clean, and taking care of my husband is so exciting!! August 20 hurry up!"

I legit wanted to gag. There are so many things to be excited about in marriage. If these are the things you are excited about, you are doing life wrong.

So, if I'm the bread winner in the family, does that mean FH should be doing the chores with a smile on his face?

I had to work today, FH was off. He vacuumed, did all the laundry and dishes and took out the trash. I thanked him but maybe I should have apologized for "putting more burdens on his shoulders". Eye roll. If a guy didn't share household chores with me, I wouldn't marry him.

@Cat - your FMIL thinks men aren't supposed to cook? What does she think about Gordon Ramsay, Wolfgang Puck, Mario Batali, Emeril Lagasse, and other famous male chefs? That's ridiculous.

Unfortunately an old guy friend of mine posted something similar recently about his wife and how she does all the chores and that's what makes a good wife because she is a husband fearing woman. Da fuck?

So I'm suppose to take care of him when I provide 3/4 of the income for the house?? Granted he isn't allowed to do dishes and I rarely ask for help with the laundry but he does do an amazing job vacumming. And we split the rest

What's sad is that any elements of truth in there aren't complete elements, and some people only feel the one side and believe that's all they deserve. I am marrying FH to be his helpmate... as he is mine. I want to make his life better, as he does mine. Sad. :-\
