Hi all! i’m new to WW, been lurking for about two weeks now and figured i’d finally make a post! not sure if one of these has been done before, but i’d love to hear the stories behind why you and your SO chose your wedding date!

my FH and i are still batting around a few dates, but we keep going back to November 7, 2020 for a few reasons!
*my lucky number is 11
*his lucky number is 7
*we wanted a fall or early summer (may/very beginning of june) wedding so 7/11 was sort of out of the running
*our current anniversary is already 11/6 so we’re used to celebrating that time anyway

so let’s hear your stories!

We picked September 22 for a couple reasons, all random. We have been together for 5.5 years, and are both older (35) and would like to have at least 1 child together. We got engaged this past Christmas, and I have always wanted an outdoor ceremony, September gives us enough time to plan and in Central PA that's cutting it pretty close to hopefully decent weather! Otherwise, we would have waited until next spring. And I just can't! Lol. I'm so excited to begin our next chapter and become his wife!

So, there were only 2 dates in September at the venue we chose, the 22nd and the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. All of our guests are traveling so I imagine that would be a nightmare! 22nd it is!

I'm an educator and so are the members of my bridal party, so it sadly had to be in the summer - it's sad because we're getting married in New Orleans and it's hot and hurricane season. I chose July 14th because it's Bastille Day and I figured that would be easy for me to remember in the future. Coincidentally, I was just talking to my neighbor the other day about how long we will be out of town for the wedding, and turns out that's their anniversary too.

We started dating 11/27/06 he proposed 11/27/17 so we picked 7/27/19. It’s a Saturday, in the summer like we wanted, it gives us more than enough time to plan, and its on our anniversary day ☺️

Our date is February 24th. Our dating anniversary is February 19th, but we didn’t plan the date for that reason. Originally we wanted a fall wedding but for multiple reasons it didn’t make sense for us. I’m glad it didn’t because I love our date now!

Date twinsies! I knew I wanted a sunset wedding in the summer, so in order to avoid a very late night our date had to be later in the summer, when the sunset times are getting earlier. It had to be before school started so that we could leave the kids for at least a few days and get away for a honeymoon. His son is heading off to college this year, so we had to ensure that the date was before he left so he could be there to serve as Best Man. All of these factors led to our choosing August 10th for our sunset ceremony in Maryland - a Friday evening that all our guests could attend, yet still have the whole weekend to rest and recharge.

However, when we decided to bail on our big wedding plans and do a "family elopement" in Key West, we realized we weren't tied to a weekend date, and I just liked the sound of 8/8/18 - especially because my birthday is 8/18. Smiley smile Coincidentally, as a PP also noted, the elopement packages were all for Sunday through Thursday, so we had to choose a weeknight in any event.

So our decision was a combination of pragmatism and whim. Smiley laugh

I wanted a fall wedding, so we decided on September 15. It falls on a Saturday which is important because all of our family has to travel to get to us and it’s 2 days before his birthday so he says it’ll be easy for him to remember our wedding anniversary 😊

I'm in education so I knew I wanted a summer wedding. We were thinking either late July or early August. Since we booked so far in advance and wanted a Friday our venue had lots of dates available. I like the way 8/9/2019 sounded, plus it gave us plenty of time for a honeymoon and then time to get back into life before the school year starts up again so we went with that. As it turns out, the owner of the dance studio I work at, her anniversary is 8/9/2014. So it will be her 5 year anniversary and we will share the date!! When she found out she gave me a super big hug and said she couldnt imagine spending her anniversary a better way then celebrating one of her dancers getting married. She has known my fh the whole time and is like a second mom to us!

We’re both teachers, so it pretty much had to be summer. My first wedding was in June so I didn’t want that (weird superstition), and we start back to school/work August 10, so that left July. My birthday happens to fall on a Saturday this year, so July 28 is the date! FH “jokes” that he only has to remember one date now (I know he’s actually glad about that!).

So my FH and I are getting married in Punta Cana. When we went to Mexico for our the 10th anniversary he loved the time of year. We were gonna get married in Mexico but because of all the violence there we decided on PC. I would have loved to get married on our 15th anniversary in June but he was adamant about May so that we don’t risk bugs or hurricane. We needed to wait a little while to save up as well because we want to go away for 2 weeks. It’ll be worth the wait!
