Just Said Yes November 2020

The reason behind the date?

Katie, on April 13, 2018 at 7:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 30
Hi all! i’m new to WW, been lurking for about two weeks now and figured i’d finally make a post! not sure if one of these has been done before, but i’d love to hear the stories behind why you and your SO chose your wedding date!

my FH and i are still batting around a few dates, but we keep going back to November 7, 2020 for a few reasons!
*my lucky number is 11
*his lucky number is 7
*we wanted a fall or early summer (may/very beginning of june) wedding so 7/11 was sort of out of the running
*our current anniversary is already 11/6 so we’re used to celebrating that time anyway

so let’s hear your stories!

We are getting married on our eight year anniversary. It worked out that our date was perfect, it was 11 months from the time we got engaged, it's a good time of the year and it's still low end wedding season by like, literally a few days lol!

We picked ours because that's what our venue had. I work in football so fall was out of the question. We are catholic so December was mostly out too along with lent. And we are getting married in new Orleans so hurricane season was out too.

We ended up with groundhogs day which is perfect for us! We met on st paddy's, started dating on Canada day (he says fourth of July but it was the day before and I like to belt out "O Canada" at random intervals) he said he loved me on April fools and we were engaged in Friday the 13th. Obscure holidays are our thing Smiley smile

Well we originally wanted to get married on our anniversary, but our pastor (who's known me since I was 9 and is very close to my FH) is out of town every weekend in August except this one. It definitely wasn't our first choice since there's a huge music festival in town which greatly narrowed our venue options to 2

FW and I started dating August 25th, she proposed December 25th so we wanted to keep the tradition of the 25th. Our wedding is outdoors and so we came to an agreement that October 25th would be perfect!

FH requested that I choose a date in August, September, or October so I chose a play on numbers and picked 8/8/18.

My favorite number is 7. Wedding had to be on a Saturday, that left either January or October, so we went with October 7th. I didn't like how 10/07/2015 and how 10/07/2016, sounded/looked like, so picked 2017.

So our anniversary is 10/18/11 and I always liked the idea of getting married on an 18th since it's our anniversary day. For whatever reason I am just superstitious about getting married in an odd # year and 2018 is here & WAY too soon (Nov. 2017 engagement) so next one up is 2020! I've always wanted a spring wedding so that's how we ended on 4/18/20! 🤗

We live in Florida, so June- November is hurricane season, and the humidity is horrible!! And since most of our family is coming from California, I knew that weather would make people miserable!! We had originally booked with a venue for April 20 but I got the dreaded call that they accidentally double booked. So I didn't want to pick another date with them! The other venue we absolutely fell in love with had 1 Sat left in April... so April 6th it is!

We are getting married August 25th. I really wanted to get married in August because my parents and FHs parents were married in August and have had long, successful marriages. When we were looking at Saturday’s in August for 2018 the 25th became an easy choice because my birthday is Dec 25th and FHs is May 25th. To me there had to be some good mojo in our date for us.

My day is Wednesday, 1/9/19. When I was a kid and learning how to spell I would pronounce Wednesday as WED-nes-day, so I always thought of Wednesday as the wedding day. We also both prefer the cold so, we wanted to get married in the winter time (and we didn't want to wait longer than needed so it had to be this coming winter.) From there I prefer single digits, and I really like that 1/9/19 is like 19-19. Plus we got engaged on 1/19/18. I probably overthoight this but I like our date and he's happy with it too, plus most vendors aren't booked yet since it's a Wednesday. Smiley laugh

I’m a teacher so I knew I wanted a summer wedding! We got engaged at the end of August 2017 so when the venue had June 23, 2018 available we decided that would be perfect!

I wanted to get married on a even numbered Saturday in September 2018.. so we had either the 8th or 22nd. Even though my favorite number is 2 cause my bday day & his 5 we picked September 8th because me & my fiancé are used to celebrating memorable things at the beginning of the month.

My FH really wanted September... When our first venue fell through (it would have been Labor Day weekend), I had to find a new place. There weren't many left that weren't booked. There were two dates available in one venue and we picked the one with the worst football game. Ha!
Also it's practically perfect so it's all working out for the best!

We originally wanted mid September for our DW, but that meant pulling all FH's nieces and nephews out of school so we pushed it up a couple weeks to end of August. Our elopement package limits us to weekdays so we ended up with August 27th. It sort of works: my favorite number is 7, we got engaged on 10/27 and I'm 27 years old. We also realized after the fact that the following weekend is Labor Day so I guess there's potential for 3 day anniversary weekends in the future.

We picked our date because we wanted early summer and it avoids major holidays and family birthdays/anniversaries. It's pragmatic rather than sentimental, but it's already grown on us and we're quite attached to it without it having extra significance beyond the day we're getting married.

Our anniversary is the 18th of August which just happens to be on a Saturday. So 08/18/18 and together for 8 years. Fiance liked all the 8s so thats what we are doing.
