The Pros or Wedding Bug

ChampagneDream, on May 24, 2014 at 10:45 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Have any of you used or will any of you be using The Pros or Wedding Bug for your wedding?

We have our photographer who we love, but are stil looking for a DJ and possibly video if it fits into our budget. It seems like they are the most budget friendly and even more so if we book both.

I have some reservations so I want to hear about any of your experiences with them.

I'm using WeddingBug but the wedding isn't until August so I don't know how much help I can be but they have been more than accommodating.

I've heard okay things about using this kind of service for photographers/videographers, but ONLY terrible things about using them for a DJ!!

Specifically, not being able to reach the main office, not having a DJ assigned until the very last minute (i.e., a couple days before the wedding), not being able to reach the DJ to discuss anything beforehand, etc.

I've come across these complaints several times, including someone just posting about this a couple weeks ago. . .

My friend is using the pros for her wedding. I was going to use them also but was not impressed during the showcase. The price and quality didn't seem to match for some of their workers. You should check out a showcase when they come near you to get a feel for what they are all about. As for wedding bug, you personally don't meet with the vendors. The company picks a person for you after you give them a deposit. I was not comfortable with this arrangement.

I researched them a bit and found some forums on theknot and it didn't have positive reviews. I was contemplating it also because the prices are good, but I don't want to get a "get what you pay for" type of service on my wedding day. I'm curious to know what else you find though.

It's impossible to generalize about companies like them because they book lots of other dj's. In North NJ, I've had very good luck with the DJ's and photographers, but I only see them on the day; I don't know what led up to it.

As a personal rule, I recommend smaller, preferably owner operated businesses. There is more control.

I'm using the pros. They're well priced, and they're basically a contracting business, and they hold '"open houses" pretty often, so you can meet your photographer/videographer/DJ before picking which to book

I love that you get a DVD of print quality photos of ALL your pics, with a full release

Thanks for the info! I think I'll avoid using one of these groups. To me, it's not worth the possibility of having a mess on the big day.

We used them too for photo and video. The pictures came out great, but the video was ok. You get what you pay for with the video. Maybe consider them just for photo.

I don't hate our video, but seeing awesome wedding trailers that are essentially Hollywood productions, ours pales in comparison. But for just us, we love it. I wouldn't show it to anyone though.

I didnt like with wedding bug you wont know your vendor until a few days before. In my opinion with someone thats going to make your special day show I believe you should meet with them. Also the pros were a to expensive for what I wanted. Try to use thumbtack and you get to put what you want to spend and they will email you back with quotes. I got all my vendors from thumbtack and in my budget.
