In an ideal world that would be true. But there are still arguments on if women have autonomy over their own bodies so it's definitely not socially acceptable for us to do whatever we want.

I think the idea he's trying to get across is a lot of women race to have children strictly because we're told all our lives that we HAVE TO have kids before 35. He's saying it's ok to wait for a bit if you want to focus on your career, or any other number of reasons people today have for waiting.

View Quoted Comment I see what you're saying however if that was completely true women would get more time off from work for maternity leave. It would be encouraged to be barefoot and pregnant. Both men and women would have "marriage leave". Women would also be given a stipend by the government to stay home with kids. Although in a lot of European countries this is true, it is not so in the U.S.. People question stay at home mothers when they're going to go back to work and give funny looks when they say they have no plans to.
Furthermore it's pretty normal for someone to be a single mother. Hardly anyone asks why they don't have a boyfriend or when they are going to get married. A single mother who doesn't work is often assumed are on government assistance of some kind and a burden on society whether true or not.

It may be true but I disagree. I think the most socially acceptable thing is to get a Master's degree, lol!!!

My hubby was a first time groom at age 52 - praise God he never felt the need to marry "just because." He would not have done that, btw!!!!
