The Groom's Ring?

It's getting to be time to purchase a ring for my FH, and I realized-- I have no idea where to start looking? He would like one of those thick black ones, and I'm hoping to ask him if he'd be willing to have a strip of rose gold to tie our rings together. But I really have no idea where to start looking to send him examples of rings that he might like. Which I guess brings up a few more questions.

1. What is groom ring etiquette? did you surprise your FH/ now-hubby with a style (like an engagement ring? I have no real clue.) or did he pick it with you?

2. What is the average cost of a groom's ring?

3. Where did you purchase it?

We just got our bands this week! We picked them out together. FH’s was a little harder to pick than mine, so we went to a bunch of places just to try different things out. We ended up going to Shane Co. He wanted a wide band in 14k gold with some simple detailing. It was about $1000 and it was so worth it. I’m excited.

My FH is a mechanic and will not be wearing a wedding ring day to day. Only for going to events or out to nice dinners. He knew he wanted tungsten and something inexpensive but other than that didn't care. I went on etsy and showed him a bunch of options and we chose one that is matte for most of it but glossy around the edges. It was $30

honestly, i picked out my e-ring, so it only made sense for us both to pick out our respective wedding bands.

FH picked his out after months of looking online, just to get an idea of his style. his one requirement was that they "be the same," and by that he meant matching metal color and stone color. the pictures show the ring he chose and my e-ring and wedding band together.

he got my e-ring at zales, so when we started looking in person, that was where we went first. he found exactly what he wanted there! he loves a more modern, sleek, minimalist style. he didnt like anything with too much bling or anything scrolled or filigreed - he wanted that simple look. i know some people pay a lot more for their rings, but his was sterling silver/black diamonds and we got both of them during the black friday sale at the same time, we paid 300 for both and mine was more, at 175. his was only 125, and that included the warranty/insurance. if we had paid full price, his ring was 150 without warranty/insurance.

(also ignore how dirty my e-ring looks in this picture... morganite tends to cloud and i hadnt cleaned it in a while when i took it. lol)The Groom's Ring? 2

We had my FH band made by the same jeweler that made my E-ring and wedding band. FH was present and had input on the entire band. His ring is hammered in the center with polished beveled edges done in a comfort fit. The only thing about ours that match is the fact they are both white gold. We had to go with gold because FH weight fluctuates dramatically and we wanted the option of having his band resized. That is one thing to keep in mind when choosing the material of his band. Not all materials are resizable. Because FH wears a size 11.25 and has a 9mm band ( he is not exactly a little guy) his ring was $2800. It is a hefty band.

I got my husbands band at Secrete fine jewelry in Bethesda! They worked with us on cost and make a custom ring for him! Everything they do is custom and he loves his one of a kind ring, they even engraved our date on the inside!

I got my FHs on Etsy too. It comes in on Friday. Contemplating wrapping it and sticking it in his stocking for Xmas... just so he can see if he likes it/ try it on. If not I’d have time to send back for adjustments. Trying to figure out if that’s okay to do 🤷🏽‍♀️🤔
