The Bridal Registry

Brooke, on August 12, 2022 at 6:19 PM Posted in Community Conversations 2 33
I just got a text from a company called The Bridal Registry saying I won 2 champagne flutes, a honeymoon, and $600 toward wedding bands. They said I signed up to win at my bridal expo, but I don't recall them since everyone was doing giveaways. Plus, it was back in April so I don't know why I am just now getting contacted.

Has anyone else dealt with them? Are they legit? It seems too good to be true....The Bridal Registry 1

I’ve never heard of it, but Google it. A Reddit forum comes up warning you to trust your instincts. Good luck

Some emails have come in weeks after a bridal expo. They'll say they were glad to have met you. But this most likely is just based on the email list you are signed up to during these expos. Some seems of these seem legit but others you probably don't need to pay attention to, especially without remembering them at the expo. We kept getting boudoir photography deals without seeing them at the expo. These seemed too much of a discount from their original prices and just sounded like it gets pricey later on. We haven't really selected anything from the expos yet.

Yes! I just went to one last week!!! They do a cookware presentation and then at the end give you your prizes. The one I went to played a game twords the end for a chance to win another prize. You don't have to buy anything just sit there while they talk about pots and pans. Both your fiance and you must be present.

Believe me I was sketched out myself thinking that it was a scam. Only reason I actually went is because my brother and his fiance went to the same thing the day before us. I told him he could be the guinea pig and let me know if it was a scam or not LOL

We did not suspect that the live expo was a scam. Nah. It gave a taste of the different vendors out there. Most vendors would be decent and are just doing their marketing. It just seems that some emails afterwards can be a bit suspicious with the "deals" they offer. It is when they say you were specially selected for this or that. lol. Of course I was.

Oh no I didn't mean I thought the live expo was a scam I got the same message a few weeks ago after the expo I went to. I thought the message itself was scam. Not the expo.

Sorry. That mention of "scam" was not due to anything you wrote. I was just saying there are some outlier companies, even at the show, who may not be fully vetted. Some of the emails just seemed to have suspicious deals. They might even work out but not be that special bargain.

There was a relatively recent post about this being a scam. Call the number and see what's required of you- if they ask for any personal information (address, credit card, drivers license, or social security) it is a scam. They should not require you to do anything other than show up to claim your prize if they are legit.

I got this same message from the San Diego expo! I’m too sketched out to respond though, lol.

I did end up going and I did a presentation for cookware in which me and my fiance could not pass up the deal so we did end up buying some however the people that did not buy some still got their gifts and me and my fiance actually won another vacation when we had purchased our cookware. It seems scammy and I was skeptical at first but it is legit.

I would say call the number and get the details. If it costs you ANYTHING to collect the prize and/or if they say you must cover the cost and buy gift cards from Green Dot, or Target or a local drugstore, Dollar Tree, etc, or if they ask your bank or credit card info, it's a scam and say NO!!!!

I don think it is legit. My text says that the expo is on the 20th of April, but it was on the 16th. So I'm just going to block them and not respond or call them.

I got the same message except they gave us only a couple days notice to pick it up and we BOTH had to be there! Which isn't fair at all because, with such short notice, we couldn't take off work or get schedules swapped to be able to make it there to claim our gifts. So we got passed over! Talk about teasing someone!! It's very sad and unfortunate. I hope in the future, especially when telling a bride they won something, they will give more than 3 or 4 days notice to something they have to have open schedules for to attend!! Or they may have some very upset brides on their hands!
