I've come posts on here and have heard stories offline about how a bride second guessed her wedding dress or wanted to purchase a new wedding dress completely based off one or more person's negative comment(s).

Are there any brides out there that plan on NOT showing their attire to anyone until the big day?

I didn't post my dress on WW before the wedding, but I showed a ton of people IRL.

My mom and sister were with me when I bought it. I showed all of my bridesmaids, people at work, my hair stylist, one of my grandmothers, two of my aunts -- basically anyone who asked, lol.

I was so confident in the dress choice and so obsessed with it that I loved any excuse to show someone! Smiley heart Fortunately, the reactions were all exceedingly positive.

Me! I’m not showing anyone my dress. Everyone has different opinions and my dress is a bit risqué! So id prefer not to show anyone and not hear about it, maybe my sister. But that’s it.

Absolutely keeping it a secret my fiancé and I both come from very strong French and German family’s. Both full of opinions that are rarely wanted. I originally went dress shopping with my MOH and MIL. However one cried one didn’t. My grandma asked me if I was going to loose weight. I showed my grandma and grandpa later and both didn’t have the best opinions but said if that’s what I picked they would love it. Long story short I told everyone I changed my dress and said no one can see it’s until I walk down the isle. I went with my original dress paid for it myself and still love it to this day! Love even more that no one has seen it and I don’t have to listen to anymore comments about it. People were hurt I didn’t invite them to go shopping but they will get over it.

I definitely agree I haven’t showed anyone and I mean no one. I went and tried on dresses with my MOH and MIL. One cried when they saw me one didn’t. I then FaceTimed my grandma and she asked if I was planning on loosing weight. I left the store with no dress went back a month later and bought it myself and haven’t told anyone. I told my MIL and MOH I changed my dress and they can’t see it until I walk down the isle. I don’t want the extra options and comments. I was so embarrassed in the store listening to what they said. Bad luck or not I showed my fiancé the dress and others and he picked THE dress out of all of them and said he could see me in that one. He doesn’t know I bought it just that I liked these 5 and wanted his opinion. That definitely certified it for me! Happy with my purchase to this day looking forward to wearing it.

I had my parents, cousin sisters and my best friend with me when I said yes to the dress, I then sent it to my mother in law and my 3 sister in laws and my other really close friend. Other then them I won't be showing anyone because I like the whole grand surprise for everyone else.

Before my wedding the only people who saw my dress were a few friends and my mom. Two co-workers are the only ones who saw it in person and I showed photos of me in it to my mom, MOH, two other friends, and probably two other coworkers.

I did post a few partial photos here to ask for advice regarding tailoring and shoe height/hem length, but never posted a full photo of me in the dress anywhere on social media before the ceremony. Even after the ceremony I've only shared a handful of photos here, and only one partial photo on social media because we had to have a super small and short elopement due to Covid and are still hoping to have our wedding celebration with many more guests some day and I still want the dress to be a bit of a surprise then (assuming I can still fit into it and wear it for that event).
