The Best Braselette?

AmyLeigh, on June 3, 2009 at 7:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

I need to find a good corset, something that will keep my tummy slim, but will not bend strangely when I sit down (I've had it happen!). I'm not a big girl (size 6ish) but I want to be sure that my chest will be supported and my tummy will stay flat! I've checked Macy's and Nordstroms without any luck. I would prefer something a little sexy, maybe with some lace, but that will still offer maximum slimming.

Any recommendations? What worked for you girls? David's has three lacy corsets (styles 8949, 7749, and 7759) but they are only available online and I am afraid to try them without some reassurance. My dress shop only has very plain ones. Please help!

Perhaps you could find a bra specialy store in your area? Those folks are trained to help you find the exact fit, etc.

We have a few in our area, and my sister has a great store near her called "The Wizard of Bras". They win the award for more clever store name!!!

Something else to think of... The bride we shot this past weekend, actually took a normal corset and had her mom (who is a seamstress) cut out the bra portion to only use the corset portion, and wore a regular victoria's secret strapless bra. She did leave behind the underwires, not sure why, but I'm not a seamstress (or a woman)! I would think that two sets of wires would be a nuisance.

So she had the push up action from the bra, without the deep pushed together cleavage of a corset, but had the slimming of the corset. It looked very natural once her dress was all on.

Matt, I am a bit concerned about how much you know about the brides bra and corset. Are you sure you were really focused (no pun intended) on taking the photos?? Smiley smile

Hope all the photos turn out fabulous!!

Thank you for the help guys! Unfortunately, I did look at Victoria Secret and Fredericks, and surprisingly, didn't find anything. (I love both those stores!)

I was curious if anyone has tried the lacy corsets from Davids?

Lois - It was actually my the daughter of my wife's aide getting married in this case. I knew the bride, so she was really comfortable around me! Her mom was talking about the corset and how she made/modified it as the girls were all impressed!

Sounds like I should put her into business making custom corsets!
