The Average Cost of DJ

Lakeisha, on August 31, 2017 at 12:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 37

I live in D.C. and I'm paying $1300 for my Dj. He is also doing Uplighting and Fog machine. Is this too much?. From talking with my dad he thinks I got ripped off...but I don't think so.

Mine was $1015 including uplighting. I don't think you got ripped off.

Here's the link to the active thread already going on about this, lots of good feedback from all areas. I live in FL and that's about average for all that.

Yeah that's a little too much to me im in MD and and the highest quote I got was $1000. Try searching on thumbtack I used them for most of my vendors and they're pretty good.

Price isn't the only thing that matters. That said, I'm paying $1000 for ceremony and reception, 7 total hours. No uplighting or extras.

That sounds like a great pricing especially since he is including uplighting and a fog machine

I think that's a great price! I'm in upstate New York- I found a family friend that owns his own business so I'm paying next to nothing - but all the other DJ's I was looking at were ranging from $****

That sounds cheap to me. Uplighting is around $400-500 dollars for me. And that's not even including the DJ or a fog machine

Thumbtack is generally for vendors that do not have a strong client base, who are usually just getting started or new to the "wedding" world who need to put dates on their books. Thumbtack even charges each vendor a certain $ to be able to reply to your posting and they only allow 5 people to respond.

I am in the NOVA area (wedding is outside of the area but the DJ is located in NOVA) and paying $1200. You didn't get ripped off, anywhere from $1000 - 2000 is the going rate for this area from what I saw.

ETA: I am sure DJ's can cost even more in the area than what I mentioned, those numbers are just based on the DJ's that I considered/talked to.
