That one thing you wish you hadn't spent so much money on ...

Still kinda smarting over the cost of my veil. If I could do it over, I probably wouldn't have gotten it or at least taken the time to search for something cheaper. It was a spur of the moment buy. What do you wish you hadn't spent so much money on and perhaps would do over if you had the chance?

MnDx...I think I'm going to be sick just thinking about $700 literally going down the drain like that

I'm glad I am thrifty, I have scored everything perfectly cheap thus far. It looks like the only thing we are "splurging" on is the DJ. He better be worth $800!

I regret spending $250 on the favors no cared about (personalized votive holder/shot glass and coordinating matchbooks). I wish I done something edible.

Yep I decided against a veil in the end because I just couldn't justify spending over $150 on the one I really liked. I ended up going for a gorgeous hair comb for $30! It can one day be something I could pass down in my family. I dig that.

I wish I had taken more time decide on centerpieces. I ended up getting some things way ahead of the game and now my idea has evolved and I'm going into a slightly different direction. Still the same theme, but the use of the original pieces I bought early on might be harder to blend together.

I don't regret my dress but I wish it would have been cheaper because my FH payed for it himself. $850 and then my $60 slip

Oh believe me KirstenMichelle, not only is it sickening, but it makes me angry to think of it...there is a part of me that truly believes that all my stylist was interested in was making a sale. I rely on the professionals that I deal with to be up front & honest with me that if 20" hair extensions are going to be excessive to speak up & say so. That while she's putting said extensions in my hair to suggest cutting and styling them so they would blend with my natural hair. I own the part of not speaking up & simply taking it up the ass, but it still pisses me off :-(

@MnDex, can you speak with the manager of the salon? Maybe they can do something for you?

I bought decor that I never used. I got my veil from etsy and was an awesome purchase. It was only 40 bucks and yes you were it for only 2 hrs. What a waste. But I don't feel bad about the purchase. Note to all you still planning never buy on impulse. There is always better deals. And don't say tight away the word wedding people like to increase there prices right away... Have fun ladies

So far nothing (but we will see)

The fiance and I have a spreadsheet with a dollar amount set aside for each category. We fill in what the actual amount was next to it so we are always aware of our budget.

It's been easier to keep costs down and know when a vendor is simply out of our budget and not waste each others time to meet up Smiley smile

My dress. I absolutely love my dress but I have a touch of buyer's remorse for paying all that money for something I'll wear once.

@heidi...it was the OWNER of the salon who sold the hair to me & put it in, not my normal stylist (sorry for the confusion)!!! I mean it's not just me being a sensitive superstar about this whole thing...she took before & after pics of me to put up on the salon's FB page & guess what (you don't have to take a smart pill to figure out what I'm going to say next), she never put them up. That tells me that she KNEW she did a shitty job!! Then when I told my actual stylist about what happened & how I couldn't blend them with my own hair, there was never an offer made to make it right. I wanted to try again but frankly I don't have another $200 to waste on someone who I have zero faith that this time she'll get it right.

The piece de resistance in all of this was when I asked for a quote to have my stylist travel to my venue to do my hair, my MOH hair, & my mom's hair, she quoted me $500!!!! And that was for hair only!!! I get that my stylist is an employee and not an independent contractor & that the owner has to recoup a day's worth of lost revenue, but really??? After all I've spent with that effing place during this whole process & the fact that I'm a loyal customer, I should like to think that she'd give me a small break. I'm not someone who wants something for nothing but damn it, I hate feeling like I'm being taken advantage of.

To give you the contrast of what I'm paying for makeup & hair now with the girl I just found...how about $360 for my airbrush makeup & hair, my MOH hair (she's my 11yo old niece so no makeup for her ;-) ), and my mom's makeup & hair AND that includes the travel time to my venue (4 hrs round trip)!! When she came yesterday to do my trials, she came to my house & only charged me for her travel time of an hour which worked out to $25!!! Talk about a difference & I love her work to boot!!!

Oh well, it's been a very expensive lesson learned & THANK GOD my FH is as wonderful as he is...as I was having a melt down, pulling the extensions out, he said, "this is why they call it a trial and I've dropped more on wasteful stuff, so please don't worry, you're going to be my beautiful bride no matter what". God, I so love this man!!!

@MnDex, write a complaint on their FB warning potential customers. That should get the owner's attention.

And your FH sounds awesome. Smiley smile

I spent about $100 on Chinese lanterns very early on in the planning. I thought they were such a cool concept, then I started reading about all of the associated dangers and decided to not use them.

Hmmm, we haven't bought much since we have an all inclusive venue. But I would say about $3 spent of paper to make flowers for the outside of the envelopes. We bought too much.

My dress and venue. I went over on my dress budget by $200 and then FH convinced me to pick the much nicer venue which was $1000 over what I had budgeted for! We are paying for everything ourselves so I wish I would've stuck to my budget better and gone with the shitty venue.

Based on some of these comments I am so glad I decided not to wear a veil!

I actually feel like I overspent on my venu! I love the way it looks but for what she charges you would think that I wouldn't have to pay extra for things like chargers and real silverware. Plus we only get 4 hours for the reception so we had to pay an extra $250 for an extra hour. She has a great price for the bar and that's what sold us because we have a party crowd but whenever i think about the price of the venu I get a little feeling of regret.
