That ONE bridesmaid...

KM, on July 16, 2014 at 1:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I generally don't have "bridesmaid" issues...but I swear I want to bury my best friend alive sometimes. She has HUGE tits. I'm a D and shes bigger than me. She was CONVINCED that she has always been a size 4, so she ordered a size 4 bridesmaid dress (well actually, I ordered it). The return policy was pretty easy, so I figured if it didn't fit (which I knew it wouldn't) that we can exchange it, no biggie. Well, now the site is completely out of stock and we only have 60 days left for an exchange....and SHE is freaking out. It's annoying enough that she's making a huge deal out of nothing (it can be taken out), but this girl's mother is telling her that the dress absolutely cannot be taken out. What does she know??? She's hinting at us completely changing the dresses now because her's doesn't fit...and that's a big HELLLLLL no. It took long enough to find these. I'm a big pushover when it comes to her, and I usually let her get her way, but no...not this time. Kill me.

I would take your friend and the dress to a store to get it altered asap. Don't rely on your friend since her mom is telling her it can't be done and she is freaking out. As busy as you are it's probably best for you to step in and take her and the dress to a store and say "I need this done" and get it over with.

Yea! Stand your ground tell her to drop a few pounds or duct tape those puppies. You shouldn't have to change things because she doesn't know her dress size.

Yeah...I'm not going to do it asap...but probably at the beginning of next year. I'm going to find out if it CAN be done asap, but I'm not letting a seamstress touch it until I know what she is going to weigh at the end (she's been going to the gym like crazy lately). She looses weight, then gains, then looses, and I don't want to go through this again.

Which store is it from? A major chain? If it's David's Bridal then one of the stores in your area may have a sample dress in the correct style/size/color.

Does the site where you got the dresses have the next biggest size in stock? (I'm assuming size 6 is what she needs, maybe they have an 8). Is the dress something that is flowy or tight. I'm a bridesmaid and the dress is too big around the waist but there's a sash so I can pull it tighter without getting it altered. A seamstress might have an easier time taking a size 8 into a size 6 then letting out a 4 with big boobs. (I know I've tried this before, mine are huge and it's just a pain!)

Some dresses are easier to take out then others, it just depends on the material and how good of a seamstress you find. I'd rather order a bigger size then have them put a panel in the back and try matching colors.

I ordered it from Modcloth, and they are out of every size except a two. She tried on another bridesmaids 6, and that barely fit her without a bra. She said she would make it work to avoid ordering an 8 because she "Absolutely isn't an 8". No, her body isn't an 8, but her boobs are, and this dress pretty much goes by boobs size, not body size. I know of a great seamstress (she makes her own amazing wedding dresses), so I'll have to see what she can do.

Oh yeah, that's def the problem with ModCloth. They run out of stuff FAST. I'd suggest looking up the name brand and seeing if you could order it directly from their website.

Yep pretty much. She pulls crap like this quite often. She grew up...privileged, which doesn't show in her personality until it comes to her being inconvenienced. She will inconvenience the whole world if it means things being easier for her. Like I said, I usually just let her get her way because it just isn't worth the argument to me, but I have to put my foot down this time.

I laughed so hard at Kristen's original comment!

I would absolutely NOT change my dress because one chick cannot get her sh*t together. Just tell her to get a boob reduction and then it will fit. Totally kidding!

    Hope it works out!

Argh...So annoying ! I have bridesmaid problems too ! With my OWN sister...I let her choose her dress in pink/blush color and it turn out that she choose a not so much pink dress, almost beige. Guess what ? Now she doesn't want her hair up. When everyone except her don't have a problem with that. Sometimes I wish to tell here that she's been ''replace'' by one of my closest friend just to see her reaction Smiley winking

My bridesmaid/sister has made off the cuff remarks about how I should be grateful to her because she's been going sleeveless to tan her arms. She hates her arms and is annoyed the dresses are sleeveless. What did she want me to do? I chose August so her kids would be out of school. August is HOT. Now the kids aren't coming and I did let her pick out her own dress from a specific designer.... it's not my fault all styles are currently sleeveless, nor is it my fault she's unhappy with herself.

    IDGAF anymore.

Keep your foot down. Don't budge.

Modcloth often gets stuff back in, you can put an alert on the dress and they will notify you when they restock, if they do. Many popular items they do.

@KristenMichelle, What Stephanie said. Modcloth often gets things back in. I would flag the dress so it lets you know when it's back in stock (I just did that with a pair of shoes) and hope for the best!

I'll definitely keep a lookout for it. I really don't think this is a big deal at all. It's an easy fix. She just doesn't want to spend the extra money on the extra adjustment or annoyance.

I should have just gone with my gut and ordered her the size bigger in the first place. She would have been mad at me at first, but at least we wouldn't have this problem
