Tell Me About Your Wedding Date!

We are looking to sit down with our favorite venue soon and talk about some potential concerns before we commit. Although we are about 2 years out we want a very popular time of year for a waterfront venue and we were quoted at 2017 prices for 2019 as long as we book this year. If we do indeed decide to commit, I need to officially pick a date with FH. Although we have been saying June 2019 or Summer 2019 to the people who ask, we really do not have an exact date in mind. Summer in general is a special time for us because we met in June, got close in July, and became official in early August. I am also a teacher so ideally I would like to have our wedding after the kids are out of school (mid June) so I don't have to be stressing about classroom stuff. So my questions for you guys are: What month do you feel like has the best weather in the Northeast, June, July, or August (we're specifically in NY)? How/why did YOU chose your wedding date? Thanks in advance Smiley smile

We chose April because that's when we first met and started dating(We met on a blind date and it actually worked out lol). April is pretty iffy in Virginia, but we just made sure to choose a venue that offered both outside and inside options.

I've never been to NY but I grew up in MI and it was always cool in June weather wise and hot in July so it's up to you. Also, it snowed our last year in Michigan on June 1st, so personally I would pick July. We picked our date b/c it was easy to remember for my FH and guests 7.7.17 @ 7 and it was available at our venue.

I'm on the other side of NYS but we are in July. We wanted summer, but being in this area, football is a big deal both professional and little loop so August was out of the question. June weather is iffy to me. We've gone from 80 to 60 in the matter of a week and, like you, I think of graduations in June. From a teaching standpoint, you may not want to do things right at the end of the school year because of the crunch the couple of weeks before the wedding as well.

You will have your selection of dates I'm sure. We booked ours almost two years out and every Sat in July was open. FH picked the 21 cause "7 times 3 is 21." I have no idea why that was his rationale but that was the exact words out of his mouth. So if it helps him remember it easier, I'll take it! Good luck with your planning!

Sorry, I can't help you with weather in the NE. I live in the SE and a summer wedding here just doesn't work! We chose our date because, like you, my FH is a teacher, as well as a football coach, and I am in nursing school with clinicals every Saturday. When we put the dates together - not during hurricane season, the rainy season, the hot season, football season, and on a date that I didn't have clinicals... (holiday weekend) we were left with around 3-4 date options. It helped us narrow that search down real quickly!

Talk to vendors, look at your calendars, and see what comes together!

Hubby can't remember any dates. We chose 5/6/17 cause I thought he would remember that date. Haha

We originally thought we'd have our wedding either August 4th of this year, or December 21st of this year. The first is our anniversary and the second is the Winter Solstice. Unfortunately August is hot as hell in Louisiana and December is also not great weather wise or foliage wise for our venue. October has the least amount of rain and everything is still in bloom. We chose the 14th primarily because it's the saturday right after my Fall break. As a coincidence, it also falls smack dab in between our birthdays (his is 10/4 and mine is 10/28).

I wanted June so it didn't interfere with school and we picked the specific weekend for VIP family and my bff (MOH) could attend

At first, I wanted it 9/23 because that's our dating anniversary, but he felt being right under a year wouldn't be enough time to save plus we both wanted a winter wedding. I wanted December but was shot down since December is a crazy month and FH didn't want to fight venues for company parties. So then I suggested February 3, which is the day before SuperBowl, that date was shot down faster then I could even say it. SO here we are, at the date we have. I didn't want it in January because that's my birthday month, but I'm so fond of my date now because it is the same day Selena (latina singer) opened her beauty shop/nail salon, who I have looked up to since I was little.

ETA: We live in Texas, and January is one of the few months it's actually cold. So there's that.

I would choose a month that's not super hot & you know the weather won't be as bad. Being in Florida, we knew we wanted an outdoor wedding. FH made it very clear that he didn't want a summer wedding, so we wanted Oct '17-Apr '18. Well, every Sat for the rest of this year was taken, so we had to go with spring 2018. We decided on March because we never know if Jan or Feb will be too cold & "April showers bring May flowers." Florida is sooo unpredictable. As for 3/31/18, it was the only Saturday available that month.
