We are looking to sit down with our favorite venue soon and talk about some potential concerns before we commit. Although we are about 2 years out we want a very popular time of year for a waterfront venue and we were quoted at 2017 prices for 2019 as long as we book this year. If we do indeed decide to commit, I need to officially pick a date with FH. Although we have been saying June 2019 or Summer 2019 to the people who ask, we really do not have an exact date in mind. Summer in general is a special time for us because we met in June, got close in July, and became official in early August. I am also a teacher so ideally I would like to have our wedding after the kids are out of school (mid June) so I don't have to be stressing about classroom stuff. So my questions for you guys are: What month do you feel like has the best weather in the Northeast, June, July, or August (we're specifically in NY)? How/why did YOU chose your wedding date? Thanks in advance Smiley smile

The 19th happens to be my lucky number, but really it was that FH wanted a late May wedding and my grandparents were unavailable on the 26th.

We chose April because of H's vacation time and also to miss the crazy spring breakers flocking in feb-march. And the chapel was cheaper on a Sunday.

    July or August!!!

Idk where in ny you are but we had an outrageous amount of snow days here. So many that our last day of school was last Friday. If I had scheduled my wedding this past or upcoming weekend I'd be freaking out right now. Instead I get a week to debrief from school and another month to dedicate to wedding stuff.

I love fall and timing worked out for a fall wedding (we've been together over 5 years, knew we didn't want a long engagement, and he proposed in March). The specific weekend was the only weekend in sept-oct that the venue I wanted was available other than Labor Day weekend, and I didn't want to do a holiday weekend.

In your situation, I would do mid to late summer so that you aren't super stressed with end of school year stuff while also in crunch time of wedding details. But I know nothing about your weather there.

We picked our date for many reasons, one being because it was significant to us. Official couple 5/19/13, engaged 5/19/17, wedding 5/19/18. We also love the month of May and spring.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the weather in the Northeast, since I'm from the Southwest and summers are pretty hot here. I would just keep in mind of any holidays with each month, such as Father's Day, 4th of July, even days that are closer to when schools start, if they start in August where you're from as more people are likely to go out of town before school starts up.

Our original date was September 30, because that's the date FH and I met, but our date got pushed back a day when we changed venues

We originally wanted June 2nd of this year but it came up way too fast and we had nothing done since we were in the process of buying a home. So then my FMIL actually suggested 9.23.17 since that would be our 5 year anniversary together and I couldn't believe I didn't think of it sooner. So now that's when we're getting married. 3 short months away! I'm super happy we'll have 1 day for our wedding and the day we started our relationship anniversary if that makes sense. Lol

Our venue is a pirate ship, and it's only in town a few weeks out of the year. I'll be picking whatever Saturday they have available next October once they get their schedule written.

I picked my date in August pretty much around my work schedule. I work in event planning and June and July are super busy with Comic-con and end of August with VMAs so beginning of August made sense. It was also considered an off peak month for my venue (which is indoors) so we were able to save some money having it in August and on a Sunday.

NY weather can be unpredictable. My friend's daughter got married in late September and it was boiling out. This June there has been a lot of rain on the weekends. It really is a crap shoot.

Just based on being a teacher, august might be best for you. The last 30 days before the wedding are soooo hectic; I don't think you'll want to be chasing down your RSVPs while school is wrapping up. Maybe the beginning of August so you can go on your honeymoon right after? You'll be done and refreshed before the next school year begins.

I really wanted an October wedding because I love the foliage and the colors of fall. I live in New England. The ceremony space is outside and I was thinking October will be too cold and I wanted to get married on a Friday( multiple reasons... budget, one wedding on Fridays, venue to myself..etc) and I just didn't like any of the October dates on fridays for 2017. We booked the venue 2 years in advance, so I decided to do as close to October as possible and I liked the numbers 9/29.

Maybe early August might work best. We wanted a fall wedding even if we live in Florida and it might still be warm but not so bad. We went with Veteran's Day as we're both veterans.

Christy, don't be too jealous. I usually direct a summer camp of over 100 children in the summers which is often more stressful than the school year, and am taking my FIRST nonworking summer after a school year from hell!

He proposed Sept 2016 and we knew we didn't want a long engagement. Sorry, Christy, but he's a teacher, and summer was really our only option. We picked a date when we knew we would be able to have his kids for a week (ie: in between their driver's ed and camps) and that wasn't a holiday week like 4th of July. My dad was married to my mom on May 15th, my sister married her husband on Dec. 15th. So now I'm getting married on July 15th. Only downside is FH's first marriage was on July 14th, so I feel a little weird about that.

Thank you everyone for your answers! Some things I was definitely concerned about is planning moving up stuff for my students, guests having graduation parties to attend, and Father's day making June a pretty busy month. We attended two graduaton parties just this past weekend! July is my birth month and favorite month of the year and May is his, so we had initally thought June was a good choice as the middle month. Our anniversay is August 5th so that weekend was another thought, but I'm afraid that August can definitely be TOO hot at times. So conflicted! Lol.

No significance at all! We were planning a destination wedding in June of 2018. I told soon-to-be stepdaughter and she said she couldn't get time off in June. (Starting a 4-year fellowship). She said she could take time off in July. July it is!
