Teeth whitening anyone??

Virginia , on July 11, 2016 at 12:28 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

Hey. I need a suggestion. Anyone here had undergone a teeth whitening procedure as a part of the bridal makeover? My teeth are yellowish and stained. I am addicted to coffee. My wedding is in September. A friend of mine had undergone a teeth whitening procedure in Houston.

If I undergo this procedure now, will the effect stay till my wedding? Which is the best time recommended for a teeth whitening procedure? Should I stay away from coffee after this procedure? Please suggest.

I'm doing a dental cleaning the week of my wedding to try to get rid of two brown spots on my front teeth from coffee, so I feel ya. I'm also trying toothwhitening this week. I guess I would say to just avoid dark drinks after you get the whitening done and you should be fine before your wedding.

I purchased a teeth whitening kit from my dental office a few years back. The kit I bought was the mouth guard and the gel. Now any time I run out I simply buy the whitening gel from them. My teeth are pretty white yet I don't do the whitening but a few times a year for like a week or two then I stop. I also drink coffee every day. I say don't cut the coffee, start drinking it with a straw and of course go to your dentist to suggest the right whitening treatment for you.

Veneers or caps are the only long term solution. If you drink coffee and tea regularly your teeth will become stained again.

ETA: the dentist will be the only one that can give you advice on a specific procedure. And the after care.

I drink coffee almost every day but I keep my teeth pretty white by doing the crest white strips every 3 to 6 months or so. You have a little time so I would try that a few times before I try something more expensive

@ Runner15, I tried using teeth whitening kit, but couldn't find any effective results as my teeth are yellowish and stained. I am planning to visit my dentist to seek his opinion regarding the right whitening procedure. Thanks for your suggestion.

@ Possum Thank you, I will also enquire about veneers. But is it costlier than teeth whitening?

I use Crest 3D strips and they do wonders. FH hates using them and they really don't work on him for whatever reason. We have a appointment next week to get his professionally whitened.

I use the crest white strips! They have different levels for more or less intense whitening. I love them! I used the more intense ones when I started, now I maintain.

My sister had some whitening done before the wedding. I would stay away from foods that would typically stain (tea and coffee and wine).

I am considering getting mine done too before the big day.

Hi Virginia~ I just came back from my whitening appointment at the dentist. It was an one-hour session. I can tell it is significantly whiter!! The dentist said will last more than six months and if I use either whitening mouth wash (he recommended Crest) or take home kit it will last much longer.

My teeth are usually pretty white but I'm getting a cleaning a few days before plus whenever my teeth do look a bit yellow I bust open 3 activated charcoal tablets and mix in 2 tbsp water and brush with that... works wonders

I am in the process of using a whitening kit from the dentist because I'm getting a couple of veneers before the wedding (and yes, they are waaaaaaaay more expensive than whitening!)

I think you would be fine doing it now--they certainly won't go back to their current state before your wedding if you get it professionally done. Just be sure to use a whitening toothpaste after! (I recommend Sensodyne because I get really sensitive from whitening.)

I use Target brand whitening strips, they keep your teeth white for 6 months. It's a 14 day thing. I always get compliments on my smile. I've been using these strips since high school and they work just as well as more expensive strips or expensive procedures. I just whitened my teeth a month ago, and I plan on doing 7 days worth right before the wedding

First get your teeth cleaned... in house whitening is more expensive but you get results w/in 3 days or so. Take home trays take about 1-2 weeks to show results depending on your starting point. It's kinda like tanning, it's hard to say how much exactly you will need. The cheap route would be to order the opalescence syringe and whip it on your teeth yourself. Remember the higher the concentration, the more sensitivity you will experience. Try not to get it on your gums bc it can cause ulceration if left on to long. Trays or no trays
