Teenage bridesmaid dress ideas

Elizabeth, on April 15, 2021 at 2:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I have 10 and 14 year old sisters that are bridesmaids and only one friend who is an adult. My sisters are really small. But I want their dresses to coordinate well. The wedding is outdoor and not super fancy. I want them to feel comfortable and not over dressed, so I think midi dresses are what we’ll go for.
But HOW do I get dresses to look right together if they aren’t the same size or style?? I’m not into David’s bridal. My 14 year old sister might be able to wear a XS adult dress, but there’s no way my 10 year old sister can. I just want her to feel like a real bridesmaid.

A lot of places have Jr bridesmaids dresses.

Otherwise I would suggest finding a small business (like on Etsy) who make dresses and ask if they would be able to make one of the adult dresses in your sisters' sizes. Independent makers are wonderfully accommodating!

Lastly, if you find a dress but it is too big, a seamstress can alter the dress to be smaller! They are miracle workers!

Azazie has an awesome selection of jr bridesmaid dresses that match the styles and colors of a lot of their more typical bridesmaid dresses. I would look there.

My step daughter (11) who will be walking with my son (18) was looking at JJ house. They had a massive selection from very casual to very elegant for the wedding and a million different colors and fabrics to choose from. I was browsing the website and saw they had the same type of styles for bridesmaids as well and they can be tailored. Very inexpensive too since of course they will grow out of it before the year is out anyway.

My 9 and 10 year old sisters are junior bridesmaids, so I decided to put them in different dresses that still matched our colors (burgundy and gold). Rather than try to find dresses that exactly matched my bridesmaids' burgundy, I found gorgeous gold and white ones that complimented the bridesmaid dresses, and I plan to tie it in with burgundy flowers in their bouquet. Nothing wrong with getting different dresses in my opinion, as long as they compliment each other!

My fiancé’s 12-year-old niece is a junior bridesmaid. Everything on David’s Bridal was either too fancy or too expensive, so I picked out some dresses on Amazon and sent them to his sister. Thankfully, the three of us all liked the same dress the best! It’s fancy enough for the wedding, but it doesn’t scream “bridesmaid dress”. As long as it fits, she could wear it to maybe a Christmas party or a school dance.

Thanks! I kinda hadn’t thought about maybe getting all dresses that just complimented each other. That would make it much easier
