Tattoo's

So I have a decent sized tattoo on my right shoulder, it's a gorgeous tattoo, it means so much because it's a memorial tattoo I got in memory of my grandfather who passed away in 2014. Anyway, I have a strapless gown and would like to wear my hair up if not in a half up-half down style. I was wondering if anyone else was thinking of covering up their tattoos for the wedding and such? If you are what are you using to do it? I'm still undecided because as much as I adore my tattoo, I like the idea of covering it up so that I can have the clean looking back.

I have a half sleeve, one on my wrist and finger, chest, and foot...and I am proudly showing my tattoos. They are a part of me and my dress has a see through front and no sleeves and it looked great even having the tattoos. Especially if it's a memorial tattoo! I say wear it proudly.

One of my friends had a tattoo partially showing and didn’t like how that looked, so wevused the Kat Von D concealer over it. If you’re having airbrush makeup sometimes that can cover tattoos and even out the area when layered with a good primer and concealer

The best bit of wedding advice I received thus far is to BE YOU NO MATTER WHAT. In the sense of don't do things just to please others or because you feel obligated too. For example, I don't wear much jewelry other than my engagement ring and earrings on occasion. So at my wedding, I will wear earrings and my rings and that's it. My hair is usually up in a bun and my hair style will be up reflecting a similar style. So my point is be you, your tattoos are a part of you and you shouldn't cover them up unless YOU want that. I have a half sleeve and all of my tattoos have meaning and they are ME. Be you, you don't want to look back on your photos and feel like it wasn't what you wanted. Smiley heart

I specifically searched for a dress that would show off my back tattoo for my grandma. She was a huge part of my life growing up and she taught me so much. I say, let it show!! Its a part of you and if you love showing it, show it off. Mine spans both shoulder blades, so it's honestly way too big to cover anyway, but I would never dream of covering it up.

I never really understood this concept. Unless you have some kind of vulgar tattoo or a tattoo that you regret, why would you want to cover it for your wedding? You knew that events like this would happen when you got it. I understand you want the look of a bare back, but for girls like you and I who have freckles, it’s just going to look like a large blank spot and it will be obvious that it doesn’t match the rest of your skin. I would show your tattoo proudly.

I have a tattoo of Bender from Futurama and it says Shut Up Baby I Know It on my right arm. I would never cover it! It's who I am. Be yourself!!! You'll regret covering it.

I have one on the back of each arm that span from elbow to shoulder and one big one on my forearm. I would never cover them up. They're a part of me.

I have 9 tattoos. All but 2 will be visible with my dress. Not covering them up. They are part of who I am and most ppl know I have them anyway.

I have two that would show with my dress and I’m only covering one up because it’s a phrase and it’s cut off by my sleeves so it doesn’t look good. It’s up to you whether or not you want to cover it. Don’t worry about what others think or say, including the people here.

I have 13 tattoos so to which are visible others are hidden. My dress sides are lace and i have both of my sides done and it will be able to be seen. I also have a memorial tattoo in the same place as you for my grandfather who passed away. I will Proudly display it at my wedding. He meant the world to me, so why hide it. Since I cant have him physically present I dont want to hide it. Any one who says tattoos look nasty or tacky displaying them on your wedding day then why did you get them in the first place. They dont define who we are as people. Display your tattoo and stand proud of your art work. Smiley heart

I have a decent amount of tattoos. I'm not covering any of them up because they are apart of me and I see no reason to cover imo

The great thing about my tattoo is that my FH and I are huge Disney lovers, and our wedding theme is Beauty and the Beast. My tattoo fits perfectly with our theme,so I won’t be covering.

Also, if the tattoo isn’t offensive and it’s beautiful, then why cover it? It’s nothing to be ashamed about, and if you are, then you probably shouldn’t have gotten it.

Maybe you can cover it up and see how you feel on the make up trial/ see how well it covered up? If the make up artist can’t cover up the whole things it’s best to let it show but by trying it it will give you an idea of how you feel about it

I have 20+ tattoos including 2 sleeves. There's no way I would even attempt to cover mine up, no would I want to. They're a big part of who I am, I would feel naked without them. Also, one of my tattoos is actually one of the things that captured my FH's attention when we first met.

I don't really understand covering up tattoos at all for wedding day. But if you really feel like you want keep in mind that even waterproof makeup will break down over the day and can transfer. And you should definitely do trial runs before hand to find the the best kind for your skin. Everyone's skin is different and just because one product works great for one person doesn't mean it will work for another.

But since this tattoo is very important to you, I don't see the point in covering it up.

I have 8 tattoos and I’m not covering them for my wedding I love tattooed brides and don't think they should be covered up. I feel like covering up my tattoos would make me feel like I’m covering up who I am. Thats just me, but do whatever you want because it’s your wedding so do what makes you feel comfortable.
