Tattoo help!!!

DeLarrah, on June 29, 2019 at 7:40 PM Posted in Style and Décor 2 16
Yes I love my tattoos. But I personally want them covered just for a clean appearance. No judgement, I just want to know how successful is it covering with makeup/airbrush or would I be better off getting a dress with sleeves to cover. I have a big tattoo on my left arm that needs covering! Thank you in advance!

So I looked into this for my own wedding. My advice is go into Sephora or whatever make up store and ask the artists there for advice. so I had one of them do a sample cover up on me and it def took a lot of layers but it did work. I ultimately didn't cover my arm tattoos on my wedding day but that's what I'd recommend to you.

So do you think I would be best off looking for a dress that covers them? More so then the make up route

    Tattoo help!!!

I saw this video years ago, & I'll let is speak for itself. I don't know the cost of this product, but if it's worth it to you, I thought it might be worth sharing. They show the product at the end, I believe is called Dermablend

Honestly that's kind of hard for me to gage just because you won't really know the kind of dress you'll fall in love with - might be with sleeves might not be with sleeves, if it's not with sleeves may not look good with gloves or with sleeves added.
Smiley smile My advice is more so... You'll be beautiful no matter what you're in or do. I only had considered covering them because my mama would not stop nagging but in the end you know what people will look and judge regardless of anything you do so ya may as well do what makes you happy and what you want

Dermablend will cover tattoos, but I would think it will also rub off on your dress and your guests.

I agree with this. I was a bridesmaid and asked to cover a tattoo. I used this but it also go alllllll over my dress even though I set it with powder.

Yep. I thought so. I have only used it to cover a scar on my face, which I no longer try to cover. It covers really well, but it doesn't do so well with not rubbing off.

Thank you all, I’m leaning more towards adding a 3/4 sleeve to my dress or buying a dress with one because I don’t want to have to worry about my make up rubbing off. Or I may say forget it and wear my tattoos out. I guess only time will tell

Dermablend does work but will be a terrible hassle with a wedding dress as it must be set properly or you will get rub off. My advice is to find a fabu dress to cover up whatever tatts you don't want to show.

I wanted my back tattoo covered up for my big day. My hair and makeup artist suggested dermablend. You can get it from ulta, my dilemma that the salesperson brought up, Will I be tanner? Will I be using self tanner? You might need a few different shades. And now I’m overwhelmed and thinking of just forgetting about it. It’s part of me, it’s not trashy. Who knows I’m still undecided.

I got mine (back shoulder) covered up at a medi-spa that specializes in durable makeup meant to help cover skin conditions for days at a time, and it cracked within 8 hours. I didn't really care, but my mom thought my strapless dress would look better without it, so against my better judgement, I tried to hide it. After it cracked and started peeling, I removed it and just went with it. Ultimately, I'm so glad it didn't work out, because it wouldn't look like me in the photos without it.

I have actually been thinking about the same thing.. I have a couple smaller ones on my arm, and one small one on my chest that I would like covered. I'm working on a sleeve, but it won't be done before the wedding, and it looks a little too splotchy for wedding pictures right now, and my grandmother would have a heart attached seeing my chest tattoo (supernatural logo) in my wedding pics xD I'm definitely going to have to check out these products! Thank you guys for sharing!!!

So I ended up going the sleeve route with my dress! My makeup artists said small ones are easier to cover up and she said it’s a possibility of the make up possibly coming off from sweating and or rubbing against things or people. I just didn’t want to constantly think about is my make up still in place lol

I'm so glad you found a dress that fits your needs!! It's definitely a concern, it's not top of my list though Smiley smile I, too, and very happy with my tattoos, and don't mind them being visible, it's just a visual thing for the photos Smiley smile With a July wedding, sweating through the makeup is my biggest concern! I'll be testing makeup/coverup over THIS summer to see what I like/don't like/don't want to bother with xD
