Taking left over food & cake?

We had our final meeting with our planner & she told us that if we want to take home the left over food & cake to just being supplies to pack it up. Is it normal to take these things home? I didn't even consider it before. She made it sound like most couples choose to do this.

I wouldnt if it's one or two meals but if it's more than 10 absolutely, you paid for it!

Also, I've read it's a good idea to have meals packed and ready to go for your and your FH at the end of the night. In case you didn't get to eat at the wedding or your night continues to run later and you're hungry. Especially if you're in a quieter area, where things aren't likely to be open overnight.

We plan on making arrangements with a local shelter and taking all our leftovers there. We are also taking our flowers to a nursing home Smiley smile

This actually helped me decide what venue we wanted. I hate the thought of food I am paying for going to waste since no one ate it.
