Taking days off

Heather, on March 9, 2021 at 9:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hello beautiful brides to be and past brides! We just decided we would go ahead with our wedding this year as things are looking as they are getting back to normal. Unfortunately this means doing EVERYTHING in matter of 65 days. Should I feel bad about taking days (only about 3 or 4 and NOT in a row) off from work so that I can have time to do my tasks or is this something I need to just handle with also working?

If you have the days off available and money isn't an issue (if these are unpaid days off), I don't see anything at all wrong with taking days off to do wedding planning

You should never feel bad about using your vacation days, that’s what they’re for.

I'm in the same boat as you. They recently announced that we could have 100 guests on our date so I've been non-stop planning since then. I did as much as I could prior to that but I was stuck because I didn't know what to plan for. Luckily one of the only good things to come from covid is I have so much unused vacation time. But at the same time this is a super busy time at work so I also feel stressed about taking time off. But at this point, I want to enjoy my time planning and the whole wedding experience so I already sent a list of dates to my boss that I need off for wedding planning. Work will be there when I get back and the wedding is over. So, I say if you have the PTO to use, use it! Enjoy the wedding planning as much as possible and don't let work make you feel guilty.

Don't feel guilty or questioning if you should take your PTO (or unpaid days off if you can afford it). That's what it's there for!

I'm a workaholic, and a people pleaser so I completely understand the guilt of taking days off, even when I take PTO i'm usually still answering work calls or responding to emails, but the PTO days are there for you to use so use them!

I already prepped my work, that next year when the wedding is near I'll probably be taking 2 full weeks off around the wedding and then another week when we decide to go on our honeymoon (FH doesn't get as much PTO as I do so we probably won't take the honeymoon right away)

Do what you gotta do and don't worry about work!

Nope, don't feel bad. If you have the time, take it. You have earned it and there shouldn't be anything/anyone telling you when and how you can use it.

Take the time off, and absolutely do not feel guilty. As others have said, it’s your time off to take!
