Taco Bars and People Who Don't Like Tacos

So the fiance and I are set on a taco bar. Like 100,000,000% WE ARE HAVING A TACO BAR. We like tacos, they are delicious, and check the gluten free dietary box for the future husband. So the fiance and I are set on a taco bar. Like 100,000,000% WE ARE HAVING A TACO BAR.
We like tacos, they are delicious, and check the gluten free dietary box for the future husband.

Apparently there are people in this world that don't like tacos. My first instinct is to not invite these kinds of taco hating rif-raf to my wedding. Unfortunately that means my dad, grandma, and FBIL/groomsman won't be invited. And well... I guess they should be invited.

So my thought is having BBQ pulled pork.

Here's my thought process. Allow me to walk you thru it.

Asking for a preference on the RSVP is out.
*We aren't having a plated meal.
Partially due to cost.
Partially because that's an oddity where I'm from.
And also, how bougie would a plated served taco be. 😆
I'm also afraid that since we're doing a buffet, we might run out of the selected item someone chose because people change their mind.

Would it be odd to just have a minimal amount of pulled pork plated and served to my dad and FBIL?
(My grandma hates everything, she'll just have to eat cake. - She probably hates cake too. 🤷‍♀️)

As a picky eater, I'm used to going to a wedding and not finding anything to eat.

So my sympathies are small.

Eat free food, drink free drinks, be happy, or sneak out for some fast food.

I think feeding dad and FBIL are important, otherwise I wouldn't be making any sort of accomodation.

Is there any other sort of fix for this situation that I'm overlooking?

Obvious, but we WILL NOT give up our taco bar.

Thanks!

Hmm, I think having a good portion of the pulled pork would be a good idea. You can make sure that those two are served first so that they can be guaranteed some. But unless it's more expensive, having pulled pork as a second option sounds good!

How do people not like tacos??? But it’s important family so you gotta think outside the shell Smiley winking
i don’t think it would be weird, I would just to have it accessible for only them so other guests don’t get confused and try to make pork tacos
    now I want tacos...

TACOS! TACOS! TACOS! I think it's perfectly fine to set aside some bbq to be served to those that don't like tacos as long as it doesnt cost an arm and a leg for the extra option. Yeah, you definitely gotta keep the taco bar as a whole. I hear that, and I get excited for your wedding and I won't even be there!

I would serve the tacos and pulled pork and let people decide what to eat. I'm not a terribly picky eater but there are certain things I don't eat and I certainly would not expect you to cater to me at your wedding. If you have a wedding website, maybe you can share what types of food you will be serving so it allows people to make a decision if they need to pre-eat before your wedding, carry a protein bar, etc?

Don't invite anyone who doesn't like tacos! You don't need that kind of negativity at your wedding!!!!

ok...i'm kidding...sort of...I would just go with your Taco bar and not worry about it. You can let your guests know, and if they don't like Tacos they can eat the fillings on a plate, or eat before they arrive. I think it's a neat idea!!

I agree with the person who mentioned serving the proteins unseasoned. I don't know what proteins you plan on offering, but you can have a taco bar with plain shredded chicken, beef, or pork. That way you don't have to worry about if the seasoning is too spicy/salty/whatever and those who aren't taco fans can make a salad or eat the protein separately. I personally prefer tacos where the meat is unseasoned. If you have salsa/hot sauce on the side it will still be a taco bar but it will be a lot more versatile for your guests.
