Tables of 8... tables of 10???

I think it depends on what is most important to you. Having the 72" tables puts more people sitting at one table, which means it is more likely that either conversation will be more lively or it could mean that more people will be sat with people they don't know. This could obviously be fixed with a place settings. If saving the money is more important (i.e. you were already planning on doing place settings), then I would go with the 72" round tables.

I really don't care about $...it's not that much more and my dad is paying for the wedding...I am just trying to save him as much $ as I can and every time I do this he one up's me. I was just curious what everyone was doing.

I was originally going to put 8 guests at one table but I felt that a smaller group of 6 would make the reception more intimate.

What about a mix of sizes? I didn't have a choice with our venue, because it is an historic building filled with antiques they don't let you mess with the table arrangements, SO I have a mix of tables that seat 8, 10, and 12. The good thing about that was when I did the seating chart is was easier to lay out which groups of people went where according to how they fit in with the amount of seats at the table. Have you tried playing around with your seating chart yet? You might find out that you have groups of people that go together in bunches of 10 or in bunches of 8 just naturally and that will be your answer! I agree with LauraL. Mixing the table can come in handy when your trying to put tables together,some families like to stay together. Or groups of 5 couples for example. It adds variety to setting up the venue as well. Try setting it up that way and see what best fits your guest list.

We will also be mixing table sizes in order to seat certain parties together. I think it's more important that the people at the table are comfortable with who they are with than the number at the table. It will probably work out so that you can use different table sizes to seat everyone where you want!

If you are going for an intimate setting, keep them at the 60" tables with 8 per table if the $$$ is not an issue. Keeping the guest amount to a reasonable number per table will allow for more intimate table conversation and a closer connection with guests. If you are arranging seating per guests this will also be a better choice. If your option is to have a more open and casual environment with less concern on guest seating, the 72" would be ok. If you choose to mix them, ensure the venue can arrange the tables accordingly to create a balance of the room. If you need more guidance call.
