Table setting.

Alexandria, on January 10, 2018 at 10:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
So I've decide that my centerpieces and the table over all would look better if the tables were set when quests arrive. However, our dinner is being served buffet style. So is it weird to have guest bring there plate to the buffet to be served? Or should I splurge and buy/rent charger plates to help set the look I want.

I'm not sure if you are up for it or not but I have heard of some people buying paper charger plates and they are cheaper

I’m debating between the same thing! I just feel like a set table adds a touch of elegance that I really like. I’m also doing buffet style so I’m not sure if I should have the plates at the buffet and just the silverware, napkin, and cup set on the table or have the whole thing set up. So I’m following this post for sure!

Pur plan so far: We are setting the table with chargers and plates for salad that will be served family style at the table. And then buffet for dinner. It will be set when guests arrive but they will still get a new plate at the buffet.

Costco has some really nice plastic plates at a very reasonable price.

We're doing buffet and setting the table as normal but without the plates.

we didnt want the spaces to look totally empty, so we're going to place the napkins, silverware and glassware on the table so all they have to get is their plate of food. i thought it would be a little awkward if they had to carry their plate to the line and then back, lol.

this isnt ours, i found this picture on google, but this is essentially what we're doing. just making it look nice without the plates and then they can set their plate where the napkin is when they get it!

while ive seen it done with charger plates as well and looks very elegant, im just not a fan of them. i think they're unnecessary so we skipped the cost of them. but its entirely up to you! just wanted to share what we're doing.

I’d recommend chargers over having people carryup their own plates, inevitably someone is going to be distracted and forget their plate and have to jump out of line to go back and get it.

Another option is to have plated salads, pre-set for the dinner table.

You can always just have the napkin folded with the flatware on top (like they do at restaurants).

I wouldn't have people carry their plates up. As a guest, that would be slightly annoying. I would definitely go the napkin route. That's how I plan on setting up our tables for our buffet wedding.

Also: no one remembers the place settings so don't fret over this. The tables will still look beautiful without the plates.
