Table set up/center Piece suggestion.... Dried grass or something else?

Jessica, on July 9, 2019 at 10:02 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 23
So, this was the trial run of my tablecloths and centerpieces. We're doing a rustic/shabby chic theme (& not because its "in" but because its what Ive always wanted since I was about 12).

My question is, does the dried grass look ok? Or no? If not, any suggestions of what I could put in the pink milk jars? We will have candles in the small milk glass votives.

I like it. What if you added a cat tail or pussy willow stick to give it a little something more?

That's a great idea! I like the grass, but adding a cat tail would look great!

It doesn’t look bad, but to me it looks too matchy-matchy with the grass matching the other vase and the pink vase matching the pink flowers. I agree with Michelle that you could add something like a cat tail or maybe even baby’s breath to give it a little pop to make it stand out a little more

I like it! A cattail would add a little more volume to it. Maybe some babies breath in the roses or with the grasses.

Yes I totally agree with the baby breath idea - would give it a little extra oomph
But what you already have is nice too

I love this idea. I had initially purchased some cat tails to use with a flower in the boutonnieres but FH said "no cattails", and since he hasn't asked for much I agreed. He didn't say anything about cattails in the centerpieces though lol

I also bought some very tiny string pearls, its like 20 ft long or something. I was thinking about tying it around the grass like in a little bow. Thoughts? Or you think something just needs to be added to the grass?

Lol. True! I wanted to use pussy willow branches for part of ours but we changed what we were doing slightly so it wouldn't have looked good but I still love the idea.

Thank you. Id even considered doing away with grass altogether and spraypainting some sticks and or babys breath either rose gold or pearl white color. I know, sounds weird, but refer to images. Lol sorry im awful at this!

They look great! I've always been drawn to more simple centerpieces. I agree with the others about a cattail or pussy willow!

I agree with Kelsey in that it looks to matchy. What about a lighter colored grass?

I could do a lighter colored grass... but I also should have added that my centerpieces are intentionally mismatched (i just love the look) so some have white flowers and some are smaller, lighter pink flowers on the milk jars.

Agreed- adding cattails and/or wheat will look nice. Another good combo would be ferns and baby's breath.

I really like the second picture you posted here to use instead of grass.

I think adding a subtle pop of color would be best. But, I am a big fan of color haha. The pearls would look nice but they may just blend it with the rest of your more muted, pastel color scheme.
