Table Numbers vs. Names

Are you doing table numbers or table names? If you're doing names, what are you doing and why? FH and I were having dinner with my parents last night and they asked us that question. FH and I were having dinner with my parents last night and they asked us that question. I hadn't really thought about it, and I don't think I care either way. FH seems to think we're 'more fun' than just doing numbers. Just curious as to what other people are doing!

Thanks for the idea of the map! Wanted to do types of wines instead of table numbers...so for the "map" maybe red wines on one side of the dance floor and white wines on the other.

(I'll have to make sure that the name cards have a wine bottle on them depicting whether it is red or white (for my friends/family that are't wine connoisseurs).

We're doing both. Since the wedding is baseball themed each table will be a stadium (I have mini pennants with each team) along with a cross stitched baseball with number inside.

We're doing table numbers. Each one will say "chapter" at the top because we're incorporating books into our centerpieces, but I always get so annoyed trying to find my table when they're words instead of numbers.

Numbers, because it makes it easier for guests to find their spots. Table 6 is going to be between Table 5 and Table 7, but who knows where Table New York would be in relation to Table Daffodil.

We are using the military alphabet for table names (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc.) I think it's a fun and subtle nod to my FI who's a Navy officer, plus it should be pretty straightforward for guests since it'll be in alphabetical order.

I had this idea too but wasn't sure what names to put. After thinking about it, I know names would be cute and different but might take longer to put together

FW and I are doing table names. We're huge fans of the Matrix, and with each table seating 8 we have 10 tables named after the characters from the film for our reception: Neo, Morpheus, Trinity, Agent Smith, The Oracle, Cypher, Tank, Dozer, Apoc, and Switch. #nerdalert

It may be more of an inconvenience, but we only plan to get married once, so we're gonna have fun.

    Hope this helps!

We did street names and our guests seemed to really like the thought we put into seating them at table names that they would recognize. His grandmother loved that we sat her at the street of the home she lived in years ago. We only had 13 tables so I don't think it was confusing.

I'm going with the phonetic alphabet for table names because FH is in the military and will have the tables go in alphabetic order to make it easier for guests

We're boring. We just did numbers. I was at a wedding last year that did both. Every table had a number and a location from Harry Potter or Star Wars.

I've been to weddings with table names instead of numbers, and it was a drag trying to find the table. It would be much easier if they were in numerical order. If you want to use words, use numbers also, to keep order; like "Table 1, Greece (or Gryffindor).

Our tables are locations (Hawaii, Cairo, Paris, Rome, Madri Gras, Las Vegas) - all places we have enjoyed traveling to since we have known each other. We have a photo of us in each place for each table and there will be small details as a nod to the location on each table.

We are doing numbers but my cousin did places her and her husband has traveled together. For example there was a Denver, Colorado table and a San Diego, California table, etc.

Both for us! Numbers so the table can be found easily. Accompanied by a name to go with our subtle literature theme. So it'll be like "Table 12: Wuthering Heights," or something like that.

We are doing numbers but putting a little card on each table that corresponds with trivia about us as a couple i.e. Table 1- our first date Table 3 our 3 favorite places to visit

    Table 5 our top 5 restaurants..etc.

we aren't doing a wedding program so we thought this was kind of cool.
