Table names instead of numbers...

Is anyone using table names instead of numbers? When my sister got married, she named her table after "famous" couples (Fred & Wilma, Edward & Bella and named 2 tables after each of their grandparents). Anyone doing this and have any ideas?

I like the idea of using numbers with the names! FH and I were brainstorming last night of different ideas we can do. Some of the ones we talked about are:

    plants

    trees

    great Browns players

    Music albums

    songs

I also thought about the idea of putting pictures of each of us at each age for the table numbers but not sure how easy it will be to get some of him.

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I'll definitely think this over and talk with him some more!

I've been to weddings where they did names instead of numbers and it was easy enough. We are going to do pictures of basic symbols pertaining to our favorite superheros and disney movies. We are going to do things like a photo of a glass slipper for Cinderella or the superman symbol for superman. We weren't planning on putting numbers underneath, but going to consider if we need to after reading this thread.

I would say either have names and numbers or a diagram up front showing a layout of the room/tables. I hate aimlessly walking around, trying to find my table, because the tables just have names...especially if the venue is not well lit.

I considered doing this until FH pointed out that we're going to have to name over 10 tables. So we're doing numbers. We are making table numbers with pictures of us throughout our relationship, so it still feels a little more personalized.

We thought about that too Jersey! We were going to put a picture of us at each location on the tables. So the niagara table would have a picture of us in front of the fall,. We decided to with numbers, but I thought this was a cute idea.

We are doing table names as wine varietals. Our wedding is at a vineyard so there will be Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, etc.

I really wanted to do years with a picture of each of us from that year, but my FMIL claims to have fewer than 10 pictures of my FH from his childhood. This was my inspiration

We are naming our tables but also including a number so that the tables will be easy to find.

I'm with everyone else-- work the numbers in somewhere. Unless you set the tables up alphabetically, (and who would notice that?) guests will wander around quite a while-- it's not something I enjoy as a guest.
