Table Assignments -- Yes or No

I am very torn on if we should do table assignments or not! I know we don't want to do assigned seats with name cards for everyone. Is it worth it to do assigned tables? I just don't want to be too 'controlling', but on the other hand I don't want people to walk in and not know where to sit or have...

I am very torn on if we should do table assignments or not! I know we don't want to do assigned seats with name cards for everyone. Is it worth it to do assigned tables? I just don't want to be too 'controlling', but on the other hand I don't want people to walk in and not know where to sit or have a couple/group of friends get split up! What did you guys do? Table assignments? open seating?

If you did table assignments, what are some rustic displays you did?

Thank you Smiley smile

I was planing a wedding favor and seat assignment all in one. I was going to get little succulent plants, put them in little white and gold pots. I was going to take a popsicle stick and hot glue a place card from Office Depot. On one side it would say Jennifer Jones table 1, back side- Take me home and plant with love. No need for a sign. It I like the pallet thing and Etsy you could get lost looking at all the cute stuff.

DH did it the week of the wedding. If you do it too early, you risk having people drop out/decide to come at the last minute (DH's family friends had a last minute family emergency that hit 2 days before the wedding).

Definitely do assigned tables. It is easier for guests and makes the flow from cocktail hour to your reception much smoother. Also, it will prevent any couples or families from being split up.

We're doing open seating, but our wedding is very small, 56 people including us, and they're all family and our very closest friend on each side and their SO. That's if all invitees are coming. Our venue isn't huge, either. Someone else had asked about the bridal party table vs. sweetheart table - and I hadn't even thought of that, but now that it's been brought up, we're going to go for the sweetheart table so our siblings can sit with their SOs and kiddos.
