What are the best online dating sites? A friend of mine has decided to get back into dating and wants to try out some sites but doesn't know which are the good, the bad, and the stalker creepy.

I see ads all the time for eharmony & match but I feel like when we've talked about this before a bunch of names I haven't heard of have popped up.

I know a lot of you have met your soul mates online (and according to match 1 out of 5 do!) so let me know what site & why you liked a particular one and I'll pass on the knowledge to her. Thanks a bunch!!

I've never used it but my mom's ex did (long messy story) but he's currently with a woman he met there. Singles.net I believe.

A family friend of ours used e-harmony when she was ready to date after a long term relationship. Guess who they matched her up with...her Ex who apparently had the same idea!!! I thought that was pretty freaky, though it didn't work out for the long haul they had had a child together, bought a house together etc so there was SOME level of compatibility, made me think that their methods might actually work.

FH and I are another POF success... Definitely have to be picky on the people you communicate with, but that's true with any way of meeting people.

@Ms. L - wow - that's almost as crazy as a brother and sister who met online and realized they were related on their blind date!

Your definitely going to get some creepers or strange ones no matter which site you use.. I cannot even begin to tell you how many odd balls I had to deal with..

My mom is currently using POF Smiley tongue We saw the commercial for it and I told her she should try it out. She's met up with a couple people from there. No real matches yet, but she still chats with them like they're friends now

I met FH on okcupid.com... I also used eHarmony a while ago and I much preferred how laid back okcupid was in comparison. You really have to be careful about if they are actually looking for something serious or a hook up though. Smiley smile

We met at lavalife.com . But its known as being a "hook-up" dating site now so I don't really recommend it.

Dating.com has been a great social networking site to search for the person I love. They helped me to get in link with 3-4 considerable matches. the effort was great. Thanks.

I met my fiance on Match. I had used some of the free sites prior to Match, but I just felt like Match was a little more serious. He was actually on Match and Eharmony and said Match was way better. It was his second time using both and said the first time he had better dates with Match also.

I'd say no matter what you are going to have some really awful dates, just don't give up. Also consider looking into ways to talk off the site that don't involve your personal number. I don't know if they do it anymore, but google used to do like free google phone numbers that would link up to your cell, but the person would only ever see the google number. I'm not sure how what's app works, but that is a texting app & I don't think you need a cell # for it just not 100% sure.
